Chapter 10 - Revenge

1066 Words
Revenge ELIZABETH The guards burst in, all of them are well armed. They lounge towards us, and Tyler and Tofan advance with them. Daenilo strike the lock, and it springs open. Daemon advances towards them and helped his childhood friend to hold the assault from Rafael’s guards. He casted an archer made of iron, and hit them. The numbers of the guards are increasing fastly. When I look at the eyes of the prisoners of Lord Rafael, hope fills their eyes. Hope for freedom. My chest tightens. Something at the back of my mind that wants to come back for them and set them free. These are Raena’s people. The people Lord Rafael’s had s*******r at the behest of King Jeorne.   We are outnumbered by the guards. They are slowly advancing towards us. The three of them, Daemon, Tofan and Tyler are staggering back as they couldn’t hold of the guards. On the opposite side, other guards has come. Surrounding the small numbers that we have. Daenilo meet their swords with swords. I draw Queen from its place, and helped him defend himself. While Nikolas is helping Patra taking her collar off, “Warlock, can’t you just get that thing off back in Trentoi, where we are all safe and not outnumbered?” Daemon said, with a hurry in his voice. Niko scoffed and rolled his eyes, “And, have them track us there? That’s what you get for not listening during Master Ben’s class. Rafael could could easily get a warlock or witch to portal him to Trentoi,” Nikolas finally c***k the collar open with a thud. The metal landed on the floor with a clang. As fast as the waterfalls, he casted a portal. All of us are slowly moving backwards. Daemon grunts as he was trying to fight off two guards at the same time. My vision suddenly got dark, and an image of the pentagon made out of fire flares my eyes. I took a deep breath, when I opened my eyes. All of them gasped in surprise. When I look at my feet, We were all stepping on a fire with the same vision I got. The guards falls backwards with fear and surprised laced in their eyes. The panic starts out as thin cellophane, something my fingers can pierce breathing holes in. In another minute the panic is a deluge of ice water surrounding every limb, creeping higher until it passes my mouth and nose. That's when the attack becomes absolute, shutting my body down as fast as punching a reset button.  With one last stroke, Nikolas activated the portal. An aghast of air hit us, and we hold onto each other as we stepped back to Trentoi. Tofan is winced at the pain. An arrow was shot on his left shoulder. Tyler was holding him, preventing him from falling. Elliot run towards us. His eyes are searching, with fear in his eyes until he found me. He wrapped his arms around me, the way he did earlier.  “Seven! I thought we lose you, sister.” he breathes in. relief flashes his voice. “I told you, I’ll come back in one piece. I’ve fought far more worse creatures. Worse than Lord Rafael,” I said. A vivid memory of The Fallens flashes my mind. Their charcoal eyes were kinda hard to forget. Sometimes, I can still see Announcer Lorro in my dreams. The way he stares at me when he is thirsty for my blood. Curiosity flashed his eyes. Though I’m not sure if telling him about the tales of what happened in the Academy might be a good idea. Archmaester Kaerwyn made it clear that it’s not safe for everyone to know about it. “Of course, you’re a strong woman.” he mutters. “One of my guard, Ser Tofan was shot. We need a Mage healer,” I said. I turned to look at Ser Tofan who’s currently laying against the hard cold ground of the Ancient Fighting pit. Blood dripping from the wound, as an attendant pulled the arrow. His screams filled my ears. The agonizing pain of the wound that made him shiver and tremble. Ser Tyler and Daemon helped him get to the castle, where Nikolas and Elliot can tend to his wound like they did to me when I was shot by an arrow. As expected, the arrow was also poisoned. Which makes everything hard but less difficult compared to what happened to me. Because, Nikolas already knows what to do and there was still left with potion he made last time for me. Ser Tofan rests in the Infirmary room, and I made sure that there is a servant that will attend to his needs. Daenilo has been silent the whole time. Patra puts her arms around her nephew that was grieving for the lost of his only daughter. I told the servants to prepare the guest rooms for Daenilo and Patra. I want them to feel safe here. After all the lost they just had. They were standing in the hallway outside of the Infirmary room. My chest tightens when Daenilo started to sobbed against her chest. “We shall have our revenge, Nilo. I swear to the seven! We shall have our revenge. It may not happen now, but it will. The memory of our clans of being burned alive by the Wards. I can’t erase that and neither I can forget it. The clan have done nothing wrong and we did our best to hide from them. But, they blame us because we still bear the magic our ancestors have given us. We were butchered for the things we never did nor wanted.” I cleared my voice. And, they both looked my way. “Daenilo, I want you to know that I am deeply sorry for what happened to your daughter. I did my best to arrive there. To rescued her. I am afraid, my efforts were not enough.” Patra sighed. “No, your grace, it was neither your fault nor Daenilo’s. We are just living in a cruel world with a cruel ruler. Only if the Laporneans were still alive.” she murmurs.
