FIND HER

987 Words
BECKER I pace back and forth in my office, f*****g idiots what the hell do I pay them for?! Supposed to be security yet they allowed a defenceless woman escape right out the door! In fact they opened the bastard door for her! I yell loudly letting my frustrations out as I swipe my hand across my desk knocking my desk lamp to the floor with a clatter, the entire thing smashes into a million pieces. I heave, looking around my office my eyes land on my bottle of whiskey, I make my way to the sideboard, grabbing a tumbler glass I fill it half way with my whiskey, downing the liquid in one go. I calm myself down. Knocking on my office door grabs my attention which also makes my body start to heat up again. “Come in” I snarl. Andre walks sheepishly into my office, head bowed down. He’s scared. Good. “We are still trying to find her sir, we believe she took off towards the south of the city. But with no family and no where to go I doubt she’ll be hard to find.” I glare at Andre taking in his words. “I want her found. Now.” I bark, he nods his head and turns on he is heel. “Wait. Get Mark to get me any information he can find on her. I want to know just who she is. While I’m waiting for you idiots to fix your mistake. Oh and Andre, if she’s not found and back to me by midnight tonight. Someone will die.” I flick my hand dismissing him from my office. He turns on his heel and leaves me. *knock* a few minutes later I’m pulled from my thoughts from the knocking on the door. “Come in.” I mutter. Mark walks into my office, with files in his hand looking nervously at his feet. “Mr Ramono, you wanted some files on Miss Watson?” I nod my head, his thin stature slowly creeps towards my office desk, placing the papers down shyly he quickly scuttles to the door, his small, thin body almost looks like it’s shaking in fear. He pushes his thick framed glassed back up his nose “will that be all sir?” I nod my head in his direction indicating he can go. He scarpers out my office without hesitation. Sighing I look down at the documents in front of me, let’s get to know you Laney Watson. Every last bit of you. My eyes roam the pages, her birth certificate, her school information, her graduation certificate, her previous home addresses, her social medias. One thing that catches my eye that makes my blood boil a wedding certificate. I pull the paper out and study it deeply, Miss Laney Watson Mr Zac Thompson. Married 23rd April 2017. 6 years ago, she was married! My rage is bubbling within me, the thought of her even sharing a bed with another man angers me, let alone sharing a life with one. Why am I so bothered by the fact she’s been married? I shouldn’t be bothered. This is just a girl I’ve hired. I need to know more. I look into it more, the next file I open is the divorce information. She filed due to him commuting adultery. According to the information he cheated on her multiple times. Divorced granted 23rd April 2021. How ironic, they divorced on their anniversary. Looking through the information I’m intrigued to learn more. I buzz Andre back into my office. “Get mark to get me all he can on a Mr Zac Thompson.” Andre nods his head and hops to work. An hour later mark returns to my office with some more files. This time all on Zac Thompson. Laney’s Ex husband. I sit back in my office chair after hours of looking through file after file of Laney, her ex husband and everyone else close to her in her life. I stretch my arms above my head and arch my back. Checking the clock I see it’s getting close to midnight. I wonder how the search is going. I decide to buzz Andre back into my office to see how it’s going. Andre appears straight away looking down nervously. “How’s the search for Laney going? You do realise it is now 11:35pm. You only have 25 minutes left before someone pays for your mistake.” I glance up from my desk to the man stood in front of me. He continues to look down. “Yes sir, we’re doing all we can. I have men checking all the places we think she could be. We’ve got men in contact with everyone she’s been in touch with since getting to the US. We’re trying our hardest to find her…” I slam my hand on my desk stopping him from finishing “I DO NOT CARE! FIND HER NOW!” Andre cowers as I raise from my seat. I walk around my desk until I’m stood right next to him. As I’m about to open my mouth Andre yanks his hand up to his ear piece. “Confirmed” Andre speaks through his ear piece “they’ve found her sir. She was hiding under the dock at New York harbour. They’re bringing her back now.” My eyes narrow at Andre. “You’re lucky. Don’t ever let this s**t happen again, if it ever does, you won’t get the time to make it right I’ll shoot you on the spot. Do you understand?” He nods his head and removes himself from my office. I take a seat back in my chair and lean back, waiting for her to arrive back to my home. Thinking just how I can teach her a lesson. No one runs away from me. No one’s stupid enough. She’ll learn.
