Episode 5: Just Missed Her

1119 Words
Angel’s POV The Green Forest Alpha is a female and my mate?! I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. I needed to find her. I needed to confirm she was my mate even though every fiber of me knew the truth. My wolf pushed me until I felt like I was going crazy. Her scent grew fainter and I grew frantic. Did she leave? I had to find out. Before I could even call my Beta in, he came bursting through the door with the other Alphas. They all stopped at the sight of me. “Hey, uh guys….yea…let’s do dinner. If Angel doesn’t make it, I will.” “Yea sure. Just let us know. It’s good to see you Alpha.” The Alphas of the visiting packs quickly left at the sight of me. I smelt their fear and it made me smile. Not many Alphas could be around me for long before a fight would ensue. It’s not that I antagonized one, but I didn’t look the strongest. I was underestimated a lot and fought my way to the top ranking packs and brought my pack with me. Those that challenged me fell and their territories became mine. I snickered at the memories. They didn’t need to worry about me right now though unless they had information about my newfound mate. I doubted that they did. I discovered upon trying to retrace her steps and ask around and it was just discovered that she was the other Alpha Female that was unmated. That was about to change. She was mine and a part of me knew she knew it too, so I think no I know that is why she left. It was game on. She was cunning and quick to be able to slip away from me, but not for long. I felt like a predator and my body shivered in the delight of hunting down our mate. I had no intention and was not going to hurt her at all. She’s my mate after all, but the thrill of the chase. I hadn’t felt so alert and alive in a long time. Nine years of searching for her and now she is found, well, sort of. I wasn’t going to go to dinner and I needed to find my mate. I looked at Damien with narrowed eyes. He was sitting down on the recliner, leisurely drinking a beer and ushering me to have a seat. It was aggravating to see him with a smirk on his face like the cat that ate the damn canary, but my Beta was a damn good public relations and for whatever reason, the Goddess blessed him with the gift of gab and seduction. People flocked to him and told him things randomly and when asked. I knew he had the intel I so desperately wanted, but because I’ve never acted like this before I knew he was enjoying these few moments of power over me. It was rare, but his eyes twinkled with anticipation and amusement. I was annoyed by him being so smitten yet aloof. “I need to find her Damien.” I proclaimed. “Have a seat and let me give you some intel. Oh, and she left a few hours ago.” Damien said smoothly as he took another swig of his beer and watched me amusingly as I came unglued. “WWWHHHHAAATTTT!!!!” I shouted so loud the windows rattled slightly. I was losing my s**t. I knew she left, but confirming it sent me into a frenzy. I began pacing and talking to myself. Damien knew because I kept waving my arms around trying to immediately piece together a plan. I was running my fingers through my hair and by this time my hair was probably standing straight up. I couldn’t take it. She wouldn’t have just left! She left! I started pacing again and getting angry. Then I felt a hand, my Beta’s hand, grasp my arm and drag me to sit down. “Bro, sit down and shut up while I fill you in. Reel it in okay?” I glared at him and wanted to punch him in the face, but I sat down instead. Damien read me like a book and his eyes grew wide. He apologized and quickly tossed me a beer and without hesitation, I caught it, drank it, and in less than a few seconds it was gone. Damien tossed me another and asked me to just drink and listen and again cool it. I tried, but I was pissed off and now extremely impatient. I was never like this. This was all new to me. I had been with she-wolves before, but she was different. She was my mate. My Luna and another Alpha to boot! I did finally manage to calm my wolf down so we could listen to the Intel. I learned her real name, Victoria. She had killed Alpha Martinez during the conference because she was challenged. She was extremely accomplished, single, and no kids. I also learned that she sent her Beta in for her and stayed in the shadows until today. I didn’t realize who she really was until Damien spoke. He had his contacts look her up by the picture and then once facial recognition was acquired then came all of the rest. She was apparently a great Alpha and respected by many and not just in the werewolf shifter community. I started to feel extremely proud of the fact that my mate was strong in more than just one aspect of life. My wolf was ecstatic and was that much antsier to find her, mate her and impregnate her, but I just missed her by mere hours. She had just up and left. No one knew her itinerary from what we knew. No one seemed to know anything except she went up to her room to eat and then hailed a cab and left. My wolf howled inside and smiled. We loved the chase and now the hunt was on to find her. By the time my Beta finished with all of the information he gathered, there was a loud knock at the door. We looked at each other and then realized neither of us was expecting anyone. I went to open it. “Alpha Angel Valentino. I’m Steve the Gamma of the Green Forest Pack. What’s your deal with our Alpha?” Everything went black.
