A week later
Angel
We emerged from our room and made our way to the kitchen. The smell of breakfast had wafted upstairs and we were hungry. Our mating was complete. It felt surreal how everything had happened. I finally felt complete. Our mate was gorgeous and compassionate. Submerging into her depths of love was everything I had hoped it to be. I only waited for her to start showing signs of pregnancy now. I was ready for this new life. My wolf was ready for this new life.
Anna was surprised to see both of us and hugged both of us. Victoria’s family was so welcoming and beamed with pride and admiration. They all came piling in for food. I didn’t realize her parents had also stayed during the process. Damien came into the kitchen too. Everyone was smiling and hugging both of us. Happiness came from every part of the packhouse. How did I live before this? I looked around and lead Victoria to the table to have a seat to eat. I learned quickly that her being hungry quickly turned to anger and no one wanted her upset or as I heard it called before ‘hangry’. Once she took her first bite the rest of us sat and started to eat comfortably. The table was filled with food, stories, and laughter.
Once we finished eating breakfast we stepped out to the porch and her whole pack was waiting anxiously outside. Once we announced our mating there was howling and eruption of cheers that filled the air. Everyone came up to meet me and congratulate both of us. Everyone had brought a token to bless our union. It was an amazing event that I hadn’t expected to happen and it made our mate happy. Her smile was ear to ear and every now and then she would shed a tear and I would hug her. It was lunchtime by the time everything had wrapped up and this celebration was far from being over. Damien looked at me with raised eyebrows and a smile showed his admiration and surprise. Before we even had a chance to talk we were ushered by her Omegas to follow them around the side of the house.
The smell of barbequed meat was in the air and we were seated at a large table that housed our main family. Victoria made it a point to have Anna and her family sit down with us. At first, I thought her name was Anne, but Victoria shrugged her shoulders and let me know that sometimes she calls her Anne and sometimes she calls her Anna. I had to laugh at this. I asked her to please not shorten my name because I am not keen on the idea of being mistaken for an extraordinary chef. Anna heard this and blushed. She thanked me for the compliment. Victoria laughed not realizing she did this and promised she would come up with another name that was endearing for just me. She gave me a quick kiss afterward. I could feel the smile that was plastered on my face. I can’t remember a time I was ever this happy and it made me excited for the future. I know my Beta felt the same way and was shocked by the outpouring of support from the pack. We ate delicious food and talked with so many families. My Beta and I walked over to the Grill Masters to pay our compliments. Handshakes turned into hugs and the day continued on like this.
Time flew today and before we knew it lunch turned into dinner. Lights had been strung up around the packhouse and everyone brought their best dishes for dinner. It was a pot luck and everything was superb. A huge bonfire was made. Every now and then the some of the pack would shift and go running around. Music was blaring, a white sheet was brought up and a projector was brought out to play movies for the kids. Bubble machines were on full blast and there were five different bounce houses and kids’ laughter filled the air. The parents were happy and relaxed. Victoria never left my side. I never left hers. It was about 9 o’clock and we shifted and ran together. Most of her pack shifted and ran along with us. When we came back we made our way to a part of the packhouse away from the children and we mated in front of her pack. It was now officially our pack here. Howls filled the air and our pack knew our union was solid. The sense of pride and strength filled me to new heights. The Goddess blessed this union between us because within a blink of an eye we were encased with a dome of energy. We shifted back into our human form and when we did we each had markings or tattoos that started at our ring finger on our left arms and went up and covered our entire arm. Victoria’s eyes widened and as she looked at me she smiled. She snaked her arms up to my body and brought me down to kiss her. Whatever the Goddess was doing to bless our union awestruck everyone because the kiss she gave me sealed our bond and pushed an energy burst throughout our pack territories. Everyone felt it.
When we looked around at everyone and every wolf, everyone looked stunned and then howled and continued on with the celebration. No one was hurt. The night turned into morning and pack members with kids or pups had started dwindling down while others helped to clean up. Smiles were on every face. Bellies were full. I was completely content and my admiration for our mate was priceless. Her hard work and good nature to help her pack members individually succeed in life with what made them happy had been displayed throughout this day.
There was not one single person or wolf that had any ill will or bad intentions. It was a relief because the thought of something always going wrong or danger lurking is always in the back of my mind. The thought of rogues coming into trash the party was quickly put to rest by my new father. Victoria’s dad had informed me that the rogues in the surrounding areas were also blessed by his daughter despite his protests and because of this she had gained respect from all rogue wolves in the area and had been invited to attend the festivities. If they were unable to make it then she would send food and beverages to them. My mouth dropped. Her dad just shrugged his shoulders and said that Victoria understood that some didn’t want to be in the politics of it all and leaving them to their own life without threats of being killed off would strengthen mutual respect between them and the pack and even though they want to be left alone if they were ever threatened or harmed by another pack then they can always come to the Green Forest Pack for protection. He went on to say he didn’t understand it at first nor agree, but went along with what his daughter wanted in order to see the results and all he saw was lone wolf shifters and rogue wolf shifters with families were protecting our pack as we protected them, and therefore no drama or unnecessary deaths occurred. If other rogues came in trying to start trouble then our allied rogues would step in and if it escalated then they could call us for help. This had happened a handful of times with this type of situation with unruly rogues, but it was quickly halted by either Jason or Steve and only a couple of deaths resulted from it because the rogues had gone completely feral or had been so damaged by other packs that they couldn’t be reasoned with and it came down to either kill or be killed to protect rogues on our borders and their families. Those few deaths were still mourned by the rogues and our pack he said because his daughter stated all life is precious and that their souls needed to be properly put to rest in order to heal and make peace with the Goddess. At first, when he started telling me this story I was angry and didn’t agree, but as he finished I was left with a different way of thinking and understanding. Our understanding of how far our mate went out of her way to help others went far beyond comprehension. He hugged me before he turned to leave and then Victoria’s mom came up to me to embrace me and wish me well. As they were leaving our mate came up and wrapped her little arms around our waist.
I turned to Victoria and just looked at her with a different outlook. She c****d her head to the side looking back at me curiously. I picked her up and she squeaked as I carried my mate, our mate of our home, and back to the room for some much-needed rest.
