Episode 9: A Quick Stop and Then Home

“VICTORIA! WHAT THE f**k WERE YOU THINKING?!” Yup. My assumption of Steve breaking furniture and being furious was on point. Steve met me at the airport. His eyes were ablaze upon approaching me. We stood nose to nose. Fur was raising upon his skin. I had not ever seen him this upset, but as the Alpha, I wasn’t backing down. I stood there nose to nose and eye to eye.

“Steve, as your Alpha back the f**k up out of my face. You know that I like to let loose every now and then. I didn’t realize I was being reckless until afterward and I am sincerely sorry for worrying you. Please, calm down and take me to the pack. Let’s cuss and discuss. Catch me up to speed with everything. Do you have the phone I asked for?”

It took Steve by surprise with my apology and within seconds his eyes shifted back to normal. He still wasn’t happy. He shoved my new phone into my hands and hugged me so hard I felt like he was going to break bones. He led me to the SUV and we were on our way to our newly acquired pack. He pulled out his phone to call Jason. “Yea, Tori’s here. Is he there with you?” There was a pause and he caught me looking at him wide-eyed. “Okay. I’ll talk to her myself and fill her in. Be safe and see you when you get here.” Steve looked at me with a twinkle in his eye and tried to stifle his smile.

My eyebrow immediately shot up in my defense. “What?”

“Sis, are you purposely trying to give us a heart attack? You go MIA to see your parents and we get that after what had happened. You show up to Florida without telling anyone, chill there and then show up here.”

“Look, I’m really sorry okay. Things have just gotten a little complicated. It’s out of my norm I know, but I need to get these loose ends tied up quickly. Everything will go back to..”

Steve put his fingers to my mouth to shut me up. Ooooo I was pissed. He shushed me!

“Loose ends? Quickly? Since when? And since when do you neglect all of your responsibilities? Your slacking wouldn’t have to do with the Alpha that has been sniffing around for you, is it? Because, if it is I think you are purposely dodging your mate.” Steve sat back with his arm along the seat and locked gazes with me.

I was caught. He wasn’t even here yet and I was found out by my own family. My hesitation was all Steve needed. He nodded because he knew he was right. He leaned forward and smiled at me. For the first time, he smelled my uneasiness and c****d an eyebrow. I had nothing. How long is this damn ride and how far are we heading? He continued on.

“You know Victoria, Alpha, I’ve never seen you like this before. At all. Let me ask you an honest question. Can I?”

I nodded not knowing what to really expect. I felt like I was in Steve’s spider web and I didn’t like it.

“Victoria are you still a virgin?”

Yup! That did it! Shock was no longer an adjective, instead, it was a man named Steve, a shifter that just hit me with a question I didn’t expect and out of left field. I wanted to smack that smile right off of his handsome face. I was so mad and that was what he read on my face. That’s all he needed and he was laughing! LAUGHING AT ME!

“Y-yea so what?! Geez, Steve! You ask me like it’s a bad thing! I’ve been busy okay! The only things I’ve ever done is go out dancing and you watching over me when you came back! There! Satisfied? At first, I wasn’t D-O-D-G-I-N-G my mate. I went to Mexico to unwind with my parents. I headed to Florida after a couple of days and was going to call Jason until I smelled the same smell that was at the conference. I realized it was my mate after thinking about it, but I wanted my freedom one last time before my life changed forever. I’ve never even kissed a guy either. Let’s just throw that out there too! I’ve never had the need to or want to. I’ve been buried with responsibilities that most wolf shifters can’t even imagine. I thank the Goddess every day that I have you and Jason, but for what we have right now has encroached on my personal, personal life.” A tear rolled down unknowingly from my cheek and splashed onto my shirt. The truth and pain I just spat out to Steve really never hit as it did at that moment. I looked away and looked lost for the first time ever and instead of Steve continuing to laugh at me he came over and held me. I punched him. He laughed and with his finger tilted my head up to look up at him. “You smell!” I told him in a whiney sister way. He laughed and just wiped my tears away.

“Hey, T, it’s okay. I really didn’t realize how innocent you were in that department. No wonder you’re spastic, and it’s understandable. You’ve seen your pack mated up and helped others so much. I get you, sis. Being a virgin isn’t a bad thing at all. It’s special. You’re special and this guy is going to know it. I already figured out that Alpha Angel Valentino is your mate before you did.”

“W-wait! What?! The ‘Angel of Death’ is my MATE! Oh hell no!” I struggled to push off Steve. He just held me tighter so I couldn’t jump out of the car and run.

“T! Listen first! He’s your mate. I punched him and knocked him out already once for getting too close to you for my comfort and I tranquilized him and his Beta – Damien” The look of shock on my face was evident and he kissed my forehead. “You needed time. Now I understand why you did the ‘SING’ method on him which by the way had me laughing for a good twenty minutes when Jason told me. But hey, he’s one of the stronger packs in the world. He actually seems like a good Alpha. I think you’ll be in good hands and if you’re not then reject him. Or kill him. Or reject him and then kill him.” Steve smiled down on me and pinched my nose. “When it’s time to have s*x you’ll like it. It’s like dancing and it’ll be when you want it to be. Just chill okay? Yea he’ll be protective over you the same as we are, but it’s for good reason, and don’t look at it as losing your freedom or control because you’re too much of a control freak anyway. Instead, look at it as gaining a really strong ally or teammate.”

“Okay, but what if I’m bad at kissing?! I’m not going to know what to do at all!” I looked at Steve with pleading eyes to help me even though he couldn’t. Instead, he said something that popped my top before he held me back down and explained himself.

“Well, let’s hope he’s had a lot of lovers then.” Steve shrugged his shoulders.

“WWWHHHAAATTTT!!!” I screamed so loud that the driver swerved and before I could manage to unlock the door Steve held me down.

“Look stupid! If he’s any kind of Alpha he has had a lot of lovers T! It comes with the status, EXCEPT You didn’t go that route! You want him to have that knowledge so he doesn’t hurt you when having s*x! You’re not the type of female that is going to want a rookie in the sack! He should be good with his mouth when kissing you on your mouth and down below as well as rocking your world! T! He should be able to f**k you so good into the bed you can’t walk without wobbling and he better bring you food afterward! I expect him to knock you up as soon as possible, but it’s going to be a happy game changer! You’ll see!”

I stopped fighting and looked at him horrified by what he had just said and extremely embarrassed. I couldn’t utter a word. I was completely dumbfounded and out of my league here.

“So, you’re not a virgin?” is all I could squeak out.

Steve gave me a crooked smile and kissed me on the cheek. “Not for a long time T.” He let me go and sat back. “We’re here.”

My Omega Team caught me up to speed with everything. I signed paperwork where I needed to. I met with the former Beta and named him the successor in charge of our new territory. He was extremely honored by the opportunity. I let him know how the dynamics of my pack work, he was to come and visit for two weeks and then implement what we do in our pack into this one. He quickly agreed and named his second and third. It only took a few hours. This loose end was now tied up. Steve let me know he would stay behind until Jason and the guys got here and would meet us at home. He smiled and hugged me.

“Victoria, get the worried look off of your face. It’ll be fine. You’ll see.” He escorted me back to the SUV and then I was in the air again, but this time going home.
