Mathew and Carter went into the hospital room,”Hay Tyson,”Mathew said in a calm nurturing tone.
“Hay dude,”Tyson gave him a hug. Looking over Mathew’s shoulder, he then saw Carter and he pulled away from him,”Could you give me a minute with my sister.”
Mathew looked back at Carter. After receiving a nod from her, he left the room.
Carter went around to the other side of the bed, and sat in the old hospital chair that seemed to be placed there recklessly. It had the classic mute blue and silver curved arms. As she sat, the cleanliness of the leather squealed at her. She had prepared herself for this conversation on the ride over. It would have been foolish if she had not.
“Thank you. For saving me from myself.”
“Yo-”Carter blarted out. She prepared to say anything. Anything under the sun that had to do with blaming her. Him telling her he didn’t want to be saved. That living was more hell than the suffocating moment of hanging himself, and the world going dark. Leaving his body numb from all the aches.”your welcome…?”
Tyson turned his head just slightly to Carter,”I mean it. I thought it would heal me in some twisted way,”he then looked into Carter’s face.“But I was wrong. Being so clothes to death gates, I know that now.”
Carter was stund. She thought she knew him better than this. Ever since the horror that their grandparents brainwashed her into doing to Tyson, there had always been a guarded distance between them. Even if he was grateful he wouldn’t have voiced it...were they making ground in their relationship?
Carter looked at Tyson, surprised in every way and a little relieved. She looked to see what Tyson might be feeling, if he too was perhaps ready for a new start. But he was no longer looking at her. He was looking over her shoulder.
She turned in her seat and saw a vast space of purples, pinks, and reds taking over the sky, with a planet surrounded by rings eclipting over the red sun in the distance.
Tyson walked to the window,“I didn’t know that tonight we were going to have a Uelsafr.”
There was a moment of silence until Tyson’s voice filled the room,“I’m truly in your debt. Killing myself...like Aion, would have been a mistake.”
Carter looked at the array of colors. She was surprised that he had not only confessed his feelings to her and said thank you, he had also said their brother’s name. It had been years since he properly said his name. It almost seemed forien when it came from his mouth. She was almost ready to be completely memorized by the sky and leave all the tension in the room behind her, but she ripped her gaze away from the dazzling stars. She had to check something, before the hues of the sky overwhelmed her mind.
She turned just slightly to not gain the attention of Tyson, but just enough to see his face. She shared at his lips, waiting for the sign that could change their relationship. Tyson opened his mouth fairly, opened his mouth and licked his lips.
Carter suddenly felt deflated, everything he had said was a lie. Ever since he was a kid, he has had this never failing telltale. In many situations the mire peek of the tongue was useful when navigating Tyson’s rebellious personality, but this just complicates everything.
Carter turns her face to the sky once more, but this time she no longer was paying attention to the dancing of the stars. Tyson had lied about all of it. He had use Alion’s name to convince her of his ‘new found reality’ when he had not change at all.
“What did this mean?” Carter asked herself.
Tyson was ready to die. He truly believes that the rope that was hanging him would be his savior that will take him out of this hell. When truly it would be his reappear that would lead him away from all he has. Alion was just a mask that Tyson was hiding behind to reach his own goals, and Carter had almost fallen for it.
