Chapter 28

Chapter 28   It was our comrade.   He was back with the nurse on duty.   “Hey there, it’s me again. I came back because your comrade told me that your about to finish the second bottle of your dextrose, cadet.” The nurse said.   “Uhhh yes ma’am! I wasn’t the one who noticed it; they just told me that the bottle of my dextrose was almost empty. When I looked at it, I saw they were right. My friend Lee Jun ask our comrade to see you in the nurse’s station to ask for your help. I am really sorry to bother your rest right there, ma’am!” I replied.   “No, it wasn’t a bother after all. Besides, I am already getting bored there because I was just all alone by myself. All the nurses and doctors on duty were still inside the operating room to make sure that the Major’s operation would be successful. We all know what would happen to this place whenever something bad happened to the injured Major. I am sure that everyone will feel the anger of his uncle President Erik Harald. You know how insane the President was, right?” The nurse said.   “Oh, yes ma’am!” We replied.   “Well I guess we could not blame him for being like that. He raised Major Rune like his own son; he raised him to be like him; a ruler, and the next administrator of this place. In short, he was the only parent Major Rune has ever known. If I were in his place too, I am sure that I would also get mad whenever someone inside the place I rule hurt my beloved nephew which is already a son to me.” The nurse said.   “You were right there ma’am, we could never blame him for being like that. I am really sure he’s just acting like that because he really loved Major Rune Harald like his own son.” I replied.   “Yes, that was really the case. I am very sure that those guards who did this to the Major will be punished as soon as the news reaches President Erik Harald’s office.” The nurse said.   “Have you heard any news about what happened to those guards that we have encountered earlier, ma’am? We’ve seen several officers on our way up here, they said they were going to the place of the incident to investigate and find those responsible for stabbing the Major.” I replied.   “Yeah, I’ve heard of that too! Some of my coworkers were talking about that earlier too! I’ve heard them saying that they saw several officers passing by. They also said they were able to recognize some of them. According to them, the officers they saw earlier were not just ordinary officers of Galaxias.” The nurse said.   “Yeah, they were right ma’am! We saw those officers too while we were making our way here too! Captain Banks was with them! I was also able to see Major Sterling with them! The last big figure I saw on our way was Major Faber.” Lee Jun said.   “Wait, what? You’ve got to be kidding me, cadet!” The nurse replied.   “No ma’am, I am telling you the truth. We really saw them while we were making our way up here, right buddy?” Lee Jun asked our comrade.   “Yes ma’am, Lee Jun was telling you the truth! I was able to see them as well earlier!” our comrade said.   “Well well well. The high table must really take it as a serious issue.” The nurse said.   “But this was just a misunderstanding between the guards and Major Rune, I do not see anything thing very serious about that for them to send their greatest investigators!” Lee Jun said.   “Well in that case, I don’t think it’s just about that anymore. I can sense that something more than that really happened earlier! I still don’t know what that is, but it must be a really serious matter! They would not send their greatest investigators for no reason!” I replied.   “That was true! Your idea makes sense, cadet! I guess we just have to wait for further announcements of the Galaxias regarding what really happened earlier.” The nurse said.   “Yes, I guess that was the best thing to do ma’am! But I can sense that something really serious is going on!” I replied.   “Yes, you were right! Something really serious is going on right now!” A deep male voice spoke from the direction of the door.   It was Captain Banks, Galaxias most famous investigator.   He was given various awards for his logical thinking and case solving expertise.   There were rumors spreading the whole Galaxias that he was able to solve the mystery and caught the responsible individual for that case by just sniffing the remaining pair of a shoe in the crime scene.   I honestly do not know whether that thing was true, they were still just rumors until now. Nobody has proved that thing as true up to now, but even though that was the case; his name was still famous and feared by most of the cadets here.   He is the reason why most of the cadets in this place and even some officers were afraid to violate rules.   “We are very sorry to disturb you in this time of night, just here to see some things for our investigation.” Another male voice said.   It was Major Sterling.   He is one of the greatest detectives of Alpha under the supervision of Captain Banks.   Based from the stories, he showed excellence in his cadet years which causes him to be accelerated by 1 year.   After he graduated, he was adopted by Captain Banks as one of his great detectives.   They say that his analyzation was as critical as Einstein’s.   Standing with them was Major Faber.   He wasn’t speaking ever since, but they say that his eyes were as sharp as an eagle’s eyesight. They say his nose was capable of finding anything just by smelling it. They also say that his gut feels were never wrong.   There was one incident wherein a specific objective was given to the soldiers. An artifact was located somewhere inside a remote area.   They call it the ‘no man island’ because no man has ever stepped on that island and come back alive.   The location of the artifact was inside the pyramid covered with land mines and traps.   No man has ever had the chance to step even on the entrance of the pyramid.   Because of this, they considered getting the artifact as an impossible mission. It is a mission that seems very impossible for a man.   Even it seems impossible; Major Faber volunteered himself for the task even though he could lose his life along the way.   He traveled the island all by himself, and never returns for almost a week. His commanding officer, Captain Banks, thought that he was already dead.   Days passed and there is still no shadow of him in the academy. Everyone already considered him dead, because they cannot make contact to him anymore.   Everyone decided to make a burial ceremony of him even though there is no concrete evidence that he is already dead.   During the ceremony, he walked on the middle and he kept on smiling like a devil. Everyone was impressed and surprised upon seeing him there.   He doesn’t even have any wounds or bruises. Inside his backpack was the artifact.   Because of this, the President became happy. The President organized a special occasion just for him and a ceremony giving him a medal of valor.   Right now, Major Faber was the only living medal of valor awardee that is still alive. That was the reason why his name is highly respected in this place. The President himself salutes the Major whenever he sees it.   There were rumors saying that he uses his tongue before in order to free himself from hand cuffs when he was caught by a scavenger, which is why he cannot speak.   “Good evening cadets, I am Captain Banks of the Galaxias Intelligence Unit. These are my team, this is Major Sterling and this is Major Faber. We were sent by the high table to investigate what really happened here.” Captain Banks said.   “Good evening sir, I just want to inform you about the two generals who came here earlier. They came here earlier to interrogate my two injured comrades over here, but they were unsuccessful.” Lee Jun said.   “What do you mean they were unsuccessful?” Captain Banks asked.   “Well it’s not like the way you were thinking sir. I just suggested them to reschedule the interview another day. It was also the suggestion of the nurse earlier, because as you can see, my comrades were still recovering from their injuries. My other comrade here was dehydrated; I think those things will really affect the way on how they would answer your questions. I would also suggest the same thing to you sir with all due respect. I am just thinking about your situation also, I know that you need to interrogate them, but interrogating people in their complex mental state was just nothing, am I right?” Lee Jun asked.   “You can interrogate them soon when they were fully recovered from their injuries and condition, sir I promise you that! But for now, I think it’s better if we just let them rest so that they could regain their strength in the soonest of time, right nurse?” Lee Jun added.   “Yes sir, that was right I also suggest that you interrogate them when they were both recovered from their conditions! This cadet was right! Interviewing people without their right state of mind is just nothing at all. I am sure you can do that another time, right?” The nurse said.   “Well if that was the case, if we cannot interrogate them right now, then let me just asked my unit. What do you think about it, Sterling?” The captain asked.   “Well, I do not see anything wrong sir. They were right; we can reschedule this interrogation another time. What do you think about that, Faber?” Major Sterling asked. The Major shook his head off and turned his heel away from us.   ‘Well, seems like Faber isn’t sensing anything from these guys, Captain. When he shook his head like that, it means nothing. I think we need to go now, sir” Major Sterling said.   “Well if that was the case, then we’re leaving. My apologies for disturbing your rest hours, cadets! Hope you get better the soonest, so we can finally conduct our proper interrogation! Good night cadets!” The Captain said.   The Captain together with his unit leaves the room.   “Whoa, I thought they would get pissed because of my suggestion! We are lucky that none of them had a short temper just like the general earlier.” Lee Jun said while laughing.   ‘Do not worry, I would not allow anyone to interrogate your comrades at this point. If someone ever comes back, then call me there again at the nurse’s station. I won’t allow them to bother the rest of your comrades, I swear!” the nurse said.   “Well thank you, ma’am! We were lucky you’re here!” I replied.   “No big deal! Oh wait let me replace your dextrose now!” The nurse said while smiling.   The nurse grabs the empty bottle of dextrose on top of my bed and replaced it with a new one.   “Looks like you were all set, then I am leaving again now, good bye!” The nurse replied.   “Okay ma’am goodbye!” Lee Jun and I replied.   ---
