SAMMY Maybe it was my imagination or something else, but I heard the nurses murmuring about a man with a bullet wound—a man whose description was similar to Lorenzo. No one would answer me directly as to what happened to him, and Paps and Aurora would entirely avoid the topic altogether. I didn't press the issue further because it only brought them guilt and pain. My family and close-ones have been through enough of that on my account. One of the perks of being a doctor was—I knew how to un-dose myself. The pain killers were slowly taking away my ability to think and act, making me more helpless than ever. And I was done being feeble—both mentally and physically. Managing to grab hold of a couple of doses and injecting them into my system, I began to scour every room of this hospital.
