The battle ended as quickly as it had begun. The surviving rogues fled into the darkness, terrified by the power they had witnessed. Hailey slowly shifted back into human form, breathing heavily. “I… I actually did it.” Kaiden smiled proudly. “You didn’t just shift.” “You commanded the battlefield.” Hailey looked at her trembling hands. “It didn’t feel like me.” Luna spoke gently. Because you stopped fighting who you are. Selene approached with a worried expression. “We have to leave.” “The Lycan King knows you’re alive now.” Kaiden nodded. “He’ll send more than rogues next time.” The journey back to the sanctuary was silent. She will either unite every pack… or watch them fall into eternal darkness.” Hailey’s heart raced. “That’s me.” Kaiden nodded. “Yes.” “But prophecies don’t decide your future.” “They only reveal the choices waiting for you.” Before Hailey could respond, a guard burst into the chamber. “Alpha!” Kaiden turned immediately. “What is it?” The guard struggled to catch his breath. “Our scouts have returned.” “They’ve counted nearly five hundred Lycan warriors marching toward the valley.” Silence filled the chamber. Hailey felt fear rise inside her. “This is because of me.” Kaiden stepped beside her. “No.” “This is because the Lycan King fears what you could become.” Outside, the sanctuary’s warning bells began ringing. War was no longer approaching. It had arrived
