The cabin was silent.
Only the crackling of the fireplace filled the room as Hailey sat on the edge of the worn-out sofa, staring at the silver pendant resting in her trembling hands. Ever since the mysterious stranger had called her the Blood Moon Princess, nothing made sense anymore.
She looked at Aunt Emma, who stood near the window with tears glistening in her eyes.
“You’ve known all this time, haven’t you?” Hailey asked quietly.
Emma closed her eyes before nodding.
“I promised your mother I would never tell you unless I had no other choice.”
Hailey slowly stood.
“So… everything was a lie?”
“No,” Emma answered quickly. “The love I gave you was never a lie.”
“Then tell me the truth.”
Emma disappeared into her bedroom and returned carrying a small wooden chest covered in dust. She carefully placed it on the table before unlocking it with an old silver key.
Inside were several faded photographs, a blood-red crest shaped like a crescent moon, an ancient silver necklace identical to Hailey’s pendant, and a sealed letter.
Emma handed the letter to her.
“Your mother wanted you to have this when the time was right.”
Hailey’s hands trembled as she broke the wax seal.
She unfolded the fragile paper and began to read.
My dearest Hailey,
If this letter has reached you, then the secret I fought to protect can no longer remain hidden. You were never born to live an ordinary life. You are the last surviving daughter of the Blood Moon Royal Family, a lineage blessed by the Moon Goddess and feared by every enemy who desires power.
Hailey’s breathing became uneven.
She continued reading.
Your father was a noble king who believed peace could unite every werewolf pack. But those hungry for power betrayed him. The night you were born, our kingdom was attacked. Your father died protecting us while I escaped with you.
Tears rolled freely down Hailey’s face.
Emma gently placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“Your mother loved you more than anything.”
Hailey swallowed hard before continuing.
I left you with Emma because she was the only person I trusted. If our enemies discovered you, they would kill you before your destiny could be fulfilled. One day you will meet someone whose fate is tied to yours. Trust your heart, not fear. The truth will always find you.
The letter ended with three simple words.
I love you.
Hailey clutched the letter tightly against her chest before breaking down in tears.
“My parents… they died because of me.”
“No,” Emma said firmly.
“They died protecting you because they loved you.”
For several minutes neither of them spoke.
Finally Hailey wiped her tears away.
“Why did everyone in the Silver Moon Pack hate me?”
Emma sighed deeply.
“Because your wolf never awakened.”
“I know that.”
“But they never knew why.”
Emma walked toward the fireplace.
“Your wolf didn’t fail to awaken.”
Hailey frowned.
“What?”
“It was sealed.”
The room became deathly quiet.
Emma continued.
“Your mother asked the Moon Priestess to hide your true powers until you were old enough to survive the enemies hunting your family.”
Hailey could barely believe what she was hearing.
“So… I actually have a wolf?”
Emma smiled sadly.
“You always did.”
Before Hailey could ask another question, the front door burst open.
Kaiden rushed inside, breathing heavily.
“We have to leave now.”
“What happened?” Emma asked.
Kaiden’s expression was darker than Hailey had ever seen.
“They’ve found us.”
Outside, dozens of distant howls echoed through the forest.
The sound sent chills down Hailey’s spine.
“They’re surrounding the cabin.”
Emma quickly grabbed a bow and several arrows hidden behind the fireplace.
“I knew this day would come.”
Kaiden looked directly at Hailey.
“You have to trust me.”
She nodded without hesitation.
“I do.”
A deafening crash shook the cabin as one of the windows shattered.
A masked warrior stepped inside.
Then another.
And another.
Within seconds the cabin was surrounded by armed soldiers wearing the crimson crest of the Lycan Kingdom.
One warrior removed his helmet.
“The Lycan King requests your presence.”
Kaiden immediately drew his sword.
“She isn’t going anywhere.”
The captain smiled.
“That wasn’t a request.”
The air suddenly became heavy.
A powerful aura swept across the forest, forcing every soldier to kneel.
Even Kaiden stiffened.
Slow, confident footsteps approached the cabin.
A tall man dressed in a long black cloak appeared in the broken doorway. His silver eyes glowed beneath the light of the full moon, carrying both authority and mystery.
Every warrior lowered their head.
“Your Majesty.”
Hailey’s heart pounded wildly.
This was the man everyone feared.
The Lycan King had finally come.
He looked directly into Hailey’s eyes, his expression unreadable.
After what felt like an eternity, he spoke.
“Hailey… I’ve been searching for you for sixteen years.”
The cabin fell into complete silence.
And with those words, Hailey realized her life as an ordinary outcast had truly come to an end.
