Chapter 5

Pulling the covers and sheets off my bed as well as the pillowcases, I bundle them in my arms and carry them to the washer down the hall. Sighing I toss them all in with some detergent, close the lid and start the washer. While that’s washing I decide to take a shower, as I head back to the bedroom I hear a loud crash from downstairs. I turned towards the stairs and glare in the general direction of the noise. Stomping down the stairs I glared around the living room, noting that my favorite crystal vase had been knocked off and lay on the ground in pieces. I stared at it struck with a twinge of sadness, then anger flushes through me. Stomping back upstairs, I go into my room and retrieve my Glock from my nightstand, someone is gonna pay dearly for this. I stomp back downstairs, fuming, and look around the living room, then move to the kitchen. I thoroughly sweep the downstairs finding nothing, but as soon as I step back into the living room I stop. I hide the gun behind my leg as I stare in horror. In the middle of my living room stands Derek, with the picture of my parents in his hands. "Put it down. NOW." He glances over at me, "Oh you mean this?" he holds up the photograph and it bursts into flames right before my eyes. My heart shreds but I keep my face expressionless. "Leave. Now. Or you are going to regret it severely." He laughs, a rich throaty sound. I stare him down. "You do realize, that by doing what you just did, you have severed anything I might ever feel for you right?" He immediately looks contrite. "I'm sorry." he says solemnly "That doesn't change what you did." I glance pointedly at the knife I have sitting on my coffee table. "Mortal weapons do no lasting damage but can sometimes hurt like hell." I raise my eyebrows "Oh really?" He shrugs. At this moment I'm glad I live miles away from anyone. When he turns his back to me I raise the gun and fire two rounds into his back in the general area of his cold black heart. He spun on me and I fired two more rounds into his chest, grinning evilly as I did so. "I warned you to leave. You're trespassing on my property and destroying my property. You deserve every ounce of pain you feel from this. That is the only photo I had of my parents. They died two years ago, you worthless worm." His eyes widen as he drops to his knees. "I…I…I didn't know." I laugh cruelly. "No, of course you didn't. Because you didn't ask you just barged in uninvited and started destroying my shit." He gasps and clutches his chest. I glare down at him with nothing but hatred in my eyes. Aiming the gun right at his face I look him dead in the eyes and calmly say, "If you don't want a bullet in your head, you'll leave now." He looks at me with a pained expression. I reach forward and touch his shoulder, sinking my finger into one of the bullet holes and twisted, hard. He gasped in pure agony and vanished.
