CHAPTER : 27
The call came at 7:45 a.m.
Sophia’s phone rang once, then twice, then a third time before she answered.
“Mrs. Callaway, we’ve had a breach,” the voice on the other end said.
Her heart skipped a beat.
“A breach? What kind of breach?”
“There’s been an incident at your son’s school. Security has already handled it, but we need you to come down here immediately.”
The blood drained from her face.
“Is he okay?” she asked, her voice suddenly unsteady.
“He’s unharmed, Mrs. Callaway. But we need you to come as soon as possible.”
She didn’t wait for him to say anything more. She hung up the phone and grabbed her jacket, her hands shaking. The world outside seemed to blur as she rushed toward the elevator.
Ethan appeared in the hallway as she ran past.
“What happened?” he ask
