Chapter 3: The Hunt Begins Jin's eyes scanned the documents on his desk, his mind racing with strategies and counter-strategies. The dim lighting of his office seemed to cast a shadow on his face, making his features appear even more chiseled and intense. He was determined to uncover the truth behind Helena's financial records, and he knew it wouldn't be easy. Ryan walked in, a grim look on his face. His eyes were narrowed, and his jaw was cliked, a clear indication that he was deep in thought. "What's going on?" he asked, his voice low and serious. Jin poured himself a glass of whiskey, his movements economical. The ice cliked against the glass, echoing the tension in the room. "Helena's financial records. It looks like she's been hiding a significant amount of money in offshore accounts." Ryan's face turned grim. His eyes widened, and his eyebrows furrowed, creating a deep crease on his forehead. "How much?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Jin's jaw cliked. His eyes seemed to bore into Ryan's, as if daring him to look away. "Enough to buy influence and manipulate people." Ryan's eyes narrowed. He leaned forward, his elbows on his knees, and his eyes locked onto Jin's. "We need to take her down." Jin nodded. His face was a mask of determination, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity. "I want you to go to the east side and meet with Victor. He's got some information on Helena's connections. Be careful, he's not someone to be trifled with." Ryan nodded, his eyes flicking to the map on his phone. He took a deep breath, and his shoulders squared, as if preparing himself for what was to come. "Got it. Where exactly am I meeting him?" Jin handed him a piece of paper with the address. "It's a small café on 5th and Main. Be there at 3 pm." Ryan took the paper, his eyes scanning the address, I'm on it, he said, leaving the office. Ryan drove in his car, finding it quite difficult to find the exact location of the address handed to him by Jin. As he turned his car to a corner trying to not miss the Google map , he almost ran into a man. He got down immediately, apologising and trying to help the man up, when the man turned to face him, and what he saw almost sent him falling to the ground, the man looked exactly like Jin. Ryan's eyes widened in shock, and he froze, unable to move or speak. The man was identical to Jin, from his piercing eyes to his chiseled jawline. He was wearing a black leather jacket, ripped jeans, and a white t-shirt, and his hair was styled in a messy, rugged way. Ryan's mind reeled as he tried to process what he was seeing. The man glared at him. His eyes seemed to flash with anger, and his face turned red with rage. "Watch where you're going, i***t!" he shouted, his voice loud and aggressive. Even his voice, his voice was exactly the same as Jin's. Ryan stumbled backward, still in shock, as the man pushed him off and stormed away. He fell to the ground, his palms scraping against the rough pavement. Ryan could not process what he had just seen, he looked like he had seen a ghost. The resemblance, it was just too much to tell apart, if he had not left Jin at the office, he would have thought that this was Jin. Ryan's eyes widened in shock, and he took a step back, his mind reeling with confusion. Who was this man? And why did he look exactly like Jin? The man scrambled to his feet, his eyes glaring at Ryan. "What are you staring at?" he snarled, his voice venomous. Ryan shook his head, trying to clear it. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" But the man didn't let him finish. He pushed Ryan again, this time with more force, and stormed off, leaving Ryan staring after him in confusion. Ryan got into his car, still trying to process what had just happened. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had just seen a ghost. As he arrived at the meeting spot, Victor was already there, sipping a cup of coffee. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, mingling with the sound of soft jazz music. "Hey, Ryan," Victor said, his eyes narrowing. "You okay? You look like you've seen a ghost." Ryan shook his head. "No, just had a weird encounter, that's all." Victor's eyes flicked to the spot where the man had pushed Ryan off. "You sure?" Ryan nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. What've you got for me?" Victor's face turned serious. "Helena's got connections with some powerful people. People who can make problems for Jin." Ryan's eyes narrowed. "What kind of people?" Victor leaned in, his voice low. "The kind who don't play by the rules." * * * * Meanwhile, Jin arrived at the abandoned warehouse, his eyes scanning the area. The warehouse was a massive, imposing structure, its walls covered in graffiti and its windows shattered. The air was thick with the smell of decay and neglect. Helena was already there, a smile on her face. She was wearing a red dress, her hair styled in a sleek, sophisticated way. Her eyes seemed to gleam with triumph, and her smile was like a knife, sharp and deadly. "Hello, Jin," she said, her voice husky. Jin's eyes narrowed. "What do you want, Helena?" Helena's smile grew wider. "I want to make a deal. I'll give you what you want, if you give me what I want." Jin's face turned cold. "What makes you think I'd ever give you anything?" Helena laughed, a low, throthy sound. "Because, Jin, I have something you want. Something that'll destroy your family's empire." Jin's eyes narrowed, his mind racing. What could she possibly have? "I'll give you a seat on the board," Jin said, his voice cold. "That's it." Helena's smile grew wider. "I want control of Richard's empire." Jin's face turned white. "You'll never get it." Helena's eyes glinned with triumph. "We'll see about that, Jin." As they finished talking, Jin turned to leave, his eyes cold. The game was on, and Jin was ready to play. He walked out of the warehouse, into the bright sunlight. The air was crisp and clean, a stark contrast to the tension that had filled the warehouse. Jin's phone buzzed, and he answered it. "What is it?" Ryan's voice was on the other end. "Jin, I've got the information from Victor. Helena's got connections with some powerful people." Jin's eyes narrowed. "I knew it. Get back to the office, we'll discuss this further." As he hung up, Jin's mind was racing. He knew he had to take action, and fast. The battle for the Richard's empire was heating up, and Jin was ready to do whatever it took to come out on top. JJ'S PEN.
