Chapter 11: The Unwelcome Truth
Jimmy leaned back in his chair, his heart still racing from the close call. He couldn't believe he had pulled it off. The official was gone, and Ryan was now relaxed, a look of relief on his face.
"Well, that was close," Ryan said, flopping into the chair opposite Jimmy's desk, a grin spreading across his face like a mischievous kid who'd just pulled off a prank.
Jimmy nodded, a smile spreading across his face, his eyes crinking at the corners. "Tell me about it. I thought I was done for, man. I mean, who needs a thumb print, right? Like, what's the deal with that?"
Ryan chuckled, his laughter deep and rumbling. "You did great, Jimmy. You're a natural. I mean, you're like a pro at this Jin thing already."
Jimmy raised an eyebrow, his smile faltering, a hint of unease creeping into his voice. "Don't say that. I'm not Jin, and I never will be. I just... I'm just trying to survive here."
Ryan's expression turned serious, his eyes locking onto Jimmy's. "I know, Jimmy. But you're doing a great job, considering the circumstances. And we've got your back, okay?"
Jimmy nodded, his eyes drifting to the documents on his desk, his mind racing with the weight of it all. "What's next?"
Ryan picked up a file, handing it to Jimmy, a look of concentration on his face. "Next, we have a meeting with the board of directors. They want to discuss the company's future plans."
Jimmy's eyes widened as he scanned the file, his heart pounding in his chest. "This looks like a big deal, Ryan. I mean, this is like, the future of the company we're talking about here."
Ryan nodded, his expression grim. "It is, Jimmy. Jin's been working on this project for months, everything you need to know about the project in details is in the file. You need to be prepared. And, oh yeah, we have that case with Helena in a few weeks' time. She's fighting tooth and nail to get the inheritance. We need to be ready for her."
Jimmy's eyes narrowed, a surge of determination running through him. "I'm ready, Ryan. Let's take her down."

The meeting was intense, with the board members firing questions at Jimmy left and right. But he held his own, answering with confidence and conviction, his words flowing like a well-oiled machine.
"So, Jin, what's your plan for expanding our operations in Asia?" one of the board members asked, his eyes narrowed, his voice laced with skepticism.
Jimmy leaned forward, his voice steady, his eyes locking onto the board member's. "Well, I think we should focus on building partnerships with local companies. That way, we can navigate the market more effectively and avoid any potential pitfalls. Plus, it'll give us a chance to establish a stronger presence in the region."
The board members nodded, looking impressed, their faces a mask of professionalism.
"What about the risks involved?" another member asked, her voice sharp, her eyes piercing. "We've had some setbacks in the past, and we can't afford to make the same mistakes again."
Jimmy nodded, his mind racing, his thoughts racing faster than his words. "I think we've learned from those mistakes. We've put measures in place to mitigate those risks, and I believe we can make this work. We've got a solid plan, and we've got the resources to back it up. Let's do this."
The meeting wrapped up, with the board members looking satisfied, their faces relaxed, their shoulders easing down from their ears.
After the meeting, Jimmy turned to Ryan, a look of relief washing over him. "Hey, where does Leila like to hang out?"
Ryan raised an eyebrow, surprised by the question, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Leila? Uh, she likes fancy restaurants and stuff like that. Why? You planning something, Jin?"
Jimmy smiled, a plan forming in his mind, his heart skipping a beat. "Just wanted to know. Make a reservation at Le Coeur de la Vie for tonight, 8 PM. And, Ryan?"
Ryan looked at him, his eyes curious. "Yeah?"
Jimmy's voice dropped to a whisper, a hint of nervousness creeping in. "Make sure it's the best table in the house, okay?"
Ryan's eyes widened, a knowing look on his face, he loved and appreciated how Jimmy was becoming Jin and handling the whole Jin situation but he hoped Jimmy was not truly falling in love with his best friend's woman ," uhmmm, Jimmy, you are not trying to steal Leila from Jin now huh?"
Jimmy shrugged, trying to look nonchalant, his heart pounding in his chest like a drum solo. "Just want to catch up with her. You know, see how she's doing and help Jin fix things, he is seriously taking that beautiful woman for granted ."
Ryan chuckled, shaking his head, his laughter rumbling deep in his chest. "Sure, Jin. Whatever you say, man."
Jimmy arrived at Le Coeur de la Vie, looking suave in his tailored suit, his hair perfectly styled, his eyes gleaming in the dim light. Leila was already there, looking stunning in a red dress, her blonde hair cascading down her back like a waterfall of gold. It was hard to stop his heart from skipping a beat at the sight of this woman.
Jimmy's heart skipped a beat as he approached her, his voice catching in his throat. "Leila, you look beautiful. Absolutely stunning." he said in total honesty
Leila smiled, her eyes sparkling, her cheeks flushing with pleasure. "Thanks, babe. You don't look so bad yourself. I mean, you're looking very... dashing tonight."
Jimmy smiled, feeling a sense of ease wash over him, his shoulders relaxing. "Thanks, Leila. I wanted to talk to you about something. Can I get you a drink?"
Leila nodded, her eyes locked onto his, her voice husky. "Please. I'll have a glass of champagne."
Jimmy nodded, his eyes never leaving hers, his heart pounding in his chest like a jackrabbit on steroids. "Coming right up."
As they sipped their drinks, Jimmy reached out, his hand brushing against Leila's, his touch sending shivers down her spine. He wanted to fix things for Jin but it was really hard to not get emotionally involved with this goddess.
Leila didn't pull away, and Jimmy felt a spark of hope, his heart soaring like a bird set free. Maybe, just maybe, he could make this work after all. But this was another man's girl. He did not want to ruin things by coming between them but maybe he should do what this Jin couldn't do, treat her like an angel she was.
