Chapter 11

Hanna’s POV Draco used to look at me like I was everything. I was the golden flower among the other concubines. Now he barely noticed me at all. And now, he devoured the new girl in ways he had never done with me. He gave her his attention, his time and his body, all things he used to give me. I didn’t even know what I had expected Scarlett to be like, our first encounter was the day she stood head to head with my Alpha demanding something. She didn’t back down from him, as if they were equals. I had half expected that after that day, he’d make her scream in pain from defying him, or sob, or even rot in her silken dresses until she’d fade away. But no, she wasn’t made a decoration or left as a pretty shadow, rather he kept her. She was never even assigned a seperate room or quarters, she slept in his bedchamber like it was her own. Like it was her place. She had been here weeks yet he hadn’t grown tired of her, she walked beside him and now he let her speak in meetings. And when you caught a glimpse of him looking at her. There was no indifference or coldness, he didn’t even look like he wanted to control her. He stared at her with hunger and fascination, something I hadn’t seen from him before. I could have turned away that night, I could have just turned around when I heard her. But I didn’t. Instead I saw what I saw, I saw him on his knees with his face buried between her legs like she was a goddess. Like she was his mate and Luna. And I knew one thing from that moment, she had successfully worked her way into his heart and she had taken what I had spent years trying to get. *** The next morning, I was trembling from my anger, my humiliation and my fear. I had built my position in this palace from nothing, I was not from the best of homes, but I had earned Draco’s favour with my beauty and obedience. Because I was his favorite girl, I was given the best room, the softest silk and I was the one that all the other concubines envied. They used to speak about me, saying I would be Luna as his favorite. That was my dream as well, even though I never said it out loud. In my mind, it was only a matter of time before he would eventually give me the title. And in a couple of weeks, she had taken all of it. I was going to hold this meeting to remind the concubines of who to be loyal to, remind them that I knew them. That I was the best person to be his Luna and we had to join forces to get rid of Scarlett the intruder. I summoned all the concubines. Every one of them except her. Some of them arrived late while some came early, a few of them weren’t happy that I summoned them yet again, after the last time. We sat in silence as I counted to make sure they were all present. Then I stood at the center. “I assume everyone here knows who this meeting is about?” I said with a calm voice. No one answered. ”if you didn’t know then I’ll tell you, it’s about the new concubine who hasn’t left his chambers in weeks and now parades herself by walking beside him like she belongs there.” I said spitefully. Kina snorted. “That’s old news.” Kina was young, very young and had been sold into Draco’s house as a young girl to be a part of his concubines. I looked at her, “it’s worse than you think,” I snapped. “I saw them myself.” They looked up at me… they were interested in what I had to say. “Last night,” I said. “He had called me to meet him but he wasn’t in his chambers, rather he was in his strategy room, and there she was, she had also gone there and he was…” I swallowed, I had to spin this story so it would affect them if not, these dirty concubines couldn’t care less. “He was kneeling before her, his head between her legs. Worshipping her like she is better than us.” The silence that followed told me that they were all thinking about the situation. Lirah, one of the concubines who relied more on her painted face and fake poise finally asked, “Are you sure? Was he doing what I think he was doing?” I turned my head sharply. “Why would I lie about this? Of course he was.” I wasn’t past lying but they didn’t need to know that I planned on embellishing this story till we all had one United front against Scarlett. Hate. “She’s not even one of us, really she acts like she’s better than us.” Someone else whispered. “She’s one of us,” Kina muttered, her arms crossed. “Maybe she should keep doing what she’s doing. I would rather her than me.” Ugh!, Kira was just an annoying teenager, she had no power, I didn’t need her for my plan to work. I needed the half forgotten beauties and the bitter eyed ones who wanted Draco in their bed but couldn’t pull him anymore. “She’s more than just a concubine,” I said coldly. “I heard from one of the guards that she now advises him… and he listens.” I paused, making sure that they all felt the brunt of the situation. “Have any of you ever spoken in his war room?” There was no response. “Has he ever asked your opinion on a port route or anything apart from ‘when would you see your blood’?” Eyes were beginning to move around. “As much as I was his favorite, I made sure that he still came to you all. I refused certain privileges just for you but this Scarlett is here to take him away from all of us.” I said bitterly. “Listen, I know you’re scared, while we were okay with receiving silks, this b***h is here for the power, can’t you see?” No one argued. Lirah looked right at me. “So what do we do? Do we slit her throat in the bathhouse?” I rolled my eyes. Not all these concubines were smart… “She doesn’t use the bathhouse but even if she did, you think Draco wouldn’t notice? She’s not alone, and he wouldn’t hesitate to execute us if he suspected us at all.” “Even the omegas like her, they would probably defy us and tell the Alpha.” One of them said, “She’s just one woman, maybe if we reasoned with her.” Someone said softly “No! She came here with a plan. Draco sent for me but she went there instead, she’s taken all our futures and wrapped them around her little finger. She met with us, so she knows our existence in this palace is tied to Draco’s need for us.” I said with venom. Even Kina looked scared. “She won’t stop with his bed,” I added. “She’ll become Luna and then where will we be? Forgotten. Cast aside, unfed and left to the mercies of guards to pass around.” They flinched at that. Because they all knew that the palace held comfort for them, and if she took over, their fates would lie in her hand. “So what do we do? What is your suggestion?” Lirah asked. “We have to remind her who we are,” I said. “Make her slip, make her look weak.” “And what if we fail?” Lirah questioned. I met her gaze. “Then we fail, listen, I’ll do it alone if I have to.” “She’s not smarter than all of us put together and she’s not better than us either.” One of them said, “She’s just new, she hasn’t learned about this palace and about Draco. She thinks it’s all about pleasuring him. He’ll tire of her soon.” Another older concubine said, “he always gets tired of them.” Another of the older concubines stood, I had met her here just like the other. I knew they resented me just as I resented Scarlett now. “We were here when each and every one of you joined, he got tired and brought in a new wolf every time. Draco isn’t built for commitment but if you wish to get rid of her, then do that but she’s not a threat to us.” She walked out, flanked by her fellow old wench. “Do you think he’ll come back to us after your plan works?” A quiet concubine asked, her eyes sharp. “I know he will,” I said through clenched teeth. “Because as she said, he’s not capable of love.“ “Then why does he only see her? He should be done and on to another conquest with the way they’ve been f*****g like wolves in heat.” The woman asked quietly. “I think she’s manipulative, using his current infatuation to her advantage.” I answered. “Then we better come up with a solid plan, one that wouldn’t fail.” One of them said, A devious plan was hatched in the meeting, if that didn’t get her out then it would be the first of many. Later, when the ladies had filed out after an oath of secrecy. I sat alone, thinking. Draco was not incapable of love as I had said, he just hadn’t found it. And with the way he touched Scarlett, I knew he had finally found the one thing we never thought he could have. But I would make sure he lost it before he even knew he had it.
