That alone should have terrified me—how quickly my life had narrowed down to a single direction, a single destination I hadn't chosen but could no longer avoid. One moment I was shaking in the dark of an underground parking garage, reading a message that cracked the foundation of everything I thought I knew, and the next I was stepping onto a private jet that smelled like leather, citrus, and inevitability.
