Chapter 2: Dante

1135 Words
I was pissed. I didn’t want to be here having an unnecessary meeting with the board of directors. I knew it was technically important to go over the quarterly year, but this meeting didn’t have to be moved up. Besides, Azalea was waiting for me at my place with Ira. I was sitting at the head of the meeting table, trying to pay attention to what everyone was saying. However, my mind wandered to what Azalea was wearing. Would she be wearing my favorite perfume, that one that smelled like the rain? If the traffic was gonna be a b***h on the highway. That’s one of the biggest downfalls of Los Angeles. Always, so damn busy, and all I wanted was to get home. The meeting was starting to wrap up. Thank the heavens. I was just done with the work day. Unfortunately, my work wouldn’t end when I got home, I still needed to go over my meeting notes tomorrow with buying and updating the old strip mall. I looked out the window, and the sun was already hugging close to the horizon. This meeting was taking too long. My gaze fell back onto the others in the meeting. They didn’t seem to notice or care that it was getting late. Like they had nothing better to do or anyone else for that matter. “Well, I think that wraps up the meeting. Is there anything you want to add, Dante? Or anyone else?” Rick spoke up Thank the gods. “Nah, I’m all good here. Anyone else?” Everyone else shakes their head around the table. “Then the meeting is wrapped up. See you all again during the next quarter.” I stand up, grab my papers and briefcase heading to my office. I was rushing to pack all my stuff up when my temporary secretary came in. “Sir, you have a phone call, it’s about the strip mall on the north end.” She smiled before turning and taking her leave. I answered line one. “Hello, Dante Valenti, speaking.” I internally groaned that they also wanted to push the meeting back. When I was so close to closing this deal. Just because someone offered one thousand more dollars than me. “Listen, I’ll up my offer by fifty thousand if you promise to keep the meeting tomorrow?” I nodded as they spoke on the other end of the phone. “I’m glad we could make a deal and work this out. I’ll see you tomorrow at one pm sharp.” I hung up the phone and grabbed the rest of my stuff before I made a quick walk to get to my car in the parking garage. My mind was racing. I hoped that Ira and Azalea wouldn’t be furious with me. I sprinted through the parking garage to get to my car, so I didn’t keep them waiting much longer than they already had. I pulled out and drove as fast as traffic on the congested highway would allow. I growled when I hit a traffic jam. “f**k! Really, out of all the times!” Normally, I wouldn’t have minded; I would’ve let my mind wander to Azalea. How I wanted ot pin her against a wall and take her. How I would please her and make her moan my name, but right now wasn’t the f*****g time. I had to get home before she decided she wouldn’t wanna work for me. I pressed the call button on my car’s dashboard to call Ira. Every ring made me nervous. f**k was she mad at me, too? Finally, she picked up. “Dad? What’s going on? You were supposed to be home hours ago. Is everything okay?” “Yeah, sorry, pumpkin. I had to change a meeting around because some of the board members were going to be on vacation. Please, don’t be mad.” “Nah dad I’m not mad, and Azalea understands she’s still here. By the way, so you guys can talk about the position.” “Good, I’m glad on both accounts. I’ll be home as soon as I can. Love you, pumpkin.” “Love ya too, Dad.” The phone clicked as she hung up. “Well, at least nobody was pissed off, and Azalea was still there waiting.” Now I could let my mind wander to her. How she would sound when she moaned my name as I claimed her. The way I’d stretch out her cunt. How my c**k would feel ramming into her and knotting inside of her. She would be the only other person I’d ever not wear a condom with. The only other person would’ve been with Ira’s mother when I was young and naive. When I used to not care about the outcomes until she came to me with Ira as a newborn, and just dropped her off like some package I ordered offline. Instantly a turn off, why the f**k did my mind wander to that, it should’ve stayed on Azalea. Finally, I was pulling into the driveway and then into the garage. I killed the engine and closed the door. I made my way inside and found them sitting on the leather couch watching some romcom. Probably Ira’s pick. “Hey, pumpkin, I made it home.” Ira jumped up. She rushed over and hugged me as tightly as she could. “Dad! How was work? You hungry? Miss Heather made some dinner and put the leftovers in the fridge for you. Your favorite lasagna.” “Yeah, I am a little hungry. Why don’t you go head it up. While I talk to Azalea about the position at work?” Ira nodded and kissed my cheek before heading to the kitchen. I turned to face Azalea. I smiled and sat down next to her. She looked good today; her aesthetic was hot. A perfect mix of horror and cuteness. “Hey, sorry about getting here late. I’ll make it quick so you can head home. I want you— I want to hire you.” Fuck really, what a f*****g terrible way to put that. Her face stayed neutral even when I made that slip up. Her eyes lit up, though, when I told her I wanted to hire her. “Really! Okay, thank you, Mr. Valenti. I promise I’ll do a good job and look professional at work. Are my piercings okay though?” “Yeah, your piercings are fine since you’ll mostly be communicating with me in person.” “Thank you so much! I promise I won’t disappoint you, boss,” She teased and stood up. “I probably should get home, but when do I start?” “Tomorrow, you can start tomorrow.”
