~ Rain
...I will only be doing this for three months and I am done." I spoke in all seriousness.
"I do not need any longer than that." He stated causing the confusion to find its way to my head, as usual. What do you plan to do, Samuel? I wonder...
We reached the pack house after walking in silence for about one more minute. He halted abruptly just as we were about to enter. He spun his head in a certain direction, sensing something coming from this way. He paused for a couple of seconds before murmuring curses under his breath.
Something unprepared for must have occurred to throw him off guard. He seemed unsettled for a little while before he said,
"Listen," He spoke suddenly, snapping my full attention to him. "Enter the pack house through the back door. Do not let anyone see you. Do not to speak to anyone, in case, someone saw you. And most importantly do not reveal who you are, no matter who it is." He finished listing his warnings and the dos and don'ts. I would not be completely honest if I said I was paying attention, but I decided just nodding my head was enough to get him to walk away and for me to find some peace and quiet. "Do you know the way back to your room?" The room with the broken window? Yes.
"I do." I nodded my head once again. Not sure if I really did. The pack house was so big that I would no doubt get lost for a few weeks before I become familiar with it. He either seemed convinced by my lie or that he had no time to get me to tell the truth. He gestured for me to go first. I took the chance and walked away, pretending that I was going to do what he said, but in reality, I was going to do the exact opposite. If I was going to be a Luna for this pack, even though it was for only three months, I had to get to know the pack. I could not be his secret Luna.
I advanced forward a few steps, pretending to be walking towards the pack house door. However, before I entered, I looked behind me to check that he was no longer there and he was not. I sighed in relief and started wandering around the place.
They had a gigantic backyard with a variety of rare plants. A specific plant caught my eye. It was a Papyrus plant. I immediately recognized it since I was intrigued by ancient history. I have read that it is so rare that it is considered an endangered plant species. There was also Eggert's sunflower and Tennessee purple coneflower. I wondered how did he find a way to have such a rare and endangered collection of flowers and plants, then I remembered who he was and how long he lived. Now it made sense.
I was very tempted pick a flower, but I got a not so happy ending 'Beauty and the Beast' vibes, so I stopped myself from doing it, considering how dark and spine-chilling the place were at this time at night. Not to mention the forest that lied directly behind the backyard of the pack house. It emitted darkness to the outside and was so creepy to even stare at it. I felt that if I stared at it for to long I would unconsciously walk inside it and eventually get eaten by the monsters that resided in there.
I started making conspiracy theories and somehow I was able to convince myself, so I just avoided looking at it and continued my quick tour in the backyard.
I opened my bag and checked the time in my phone to see that it was past 2:00 AM. On normal conditions, I would not even be awake at this time of night, but tonight was a different case. I was exploring endangered plants near a haunted forest just a few hours before the crack of dawn. Not to lie, I am a fan of horror movies and most of the evil things in movies happen around that time at night, and I expected to play the role of the victim in a horror movie at any time now.
A slight noise and I am out of here–
"Let's see what we got here!" A familiar voice spoke suddenly from behind me, causing me to almost scream in terror and run for dear life, but I soon realized that it was just the voice of a foolish wolf just like me. "What is a lady doing out here at that time of night?" I spun to see who was talking and my jaw almost dropped. f**k! Do I run now? This is my chance. "Fancy running into you again, Rain."
"Let me tell you, the feeling is not mutual, Lucas." I replied, wearing a disgusted look on my face. Flashes of the conversation he had with that creeper guy came rushing back to my head, like a flood. The disgusted look on my face intensified.
"You do not have to tell me that, Love. I know." He stated. "But you never answered my question. Surely, you are out here for a reason." He paused for a second, seeming to be thinking. He brought a hand to his face and extended his index finger along his cheek, with his thumb positioned below the mouth. "Are you, by any chance, waiting for someone?"
"What do you mean?" I questioned, genuinely meaning it. I had no idea what he meant. I was not waiting for anyone.
"I mean that the Alpha's mate should not be waiting for someone else alone at this time of night. It is very wrong." He faked a genuine look on his face. My eyes widened at his statement. I was sure no one was following us that could have heard our conversation and if, by chance, there was someone following us that I did not take notice of, Samuel would definitely know about it. He is the Alpha of this pack, anyway.
"How did you know that?"
