Amado immediately tied the horse so it could rest. They travel for several days straight because he wants to keep his promise as soon as possible. They were close to their village but they have to stop. The sun was rising again. They need to hide temporarily.
This past few days, they were always close to each other. Amado took care of her and showed affection for Symla. There were times that she was silent, thinking about Amado and her family. Every time Amado saw her in that condition, he talked to her. He tried to cheer her up. It made her worry even more. The more he shows that lovable side of him, the more it was hard for her to resist.
She was guilty because of her indescribable emotion for this ravening wolf. She had been repeating the intense warning in her mind but what happened? It just drove her crazy. Now, she was doomed. What about her obligation? The moment she let her self be involved with him, surely she couldn’t fulfill her mission. She also knows that her family wouldn’t accept him.
Symla took a deep breath and walked out of the cave. She wanted to breathe. She still has time to walk. Any moment, the sun will set. The heat of the sun can no longer hurt her skin. She won't stay away longer anyway. She just wanted to be alone so she could think clearly. She immediately put the black veil on her head so that the wolves could not trace her. It was Amado’s idea and she followed him.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
She was surprised. She did not notice him because she was preoccupied. She took a deep breath. "I will just take a walk."
He held her hand. The heat of his palms brought a warm feeling to her. "All right, I'll go with you," he promised her.
She pulled her hand. She was becoming too familiar with his warmth, she had to stop that madness now. "I want to go out alone."
The man stared at her. “I know something's bothering you. I can feel it and I can see it in your actions. I want to help.”
She turned around but Amado stopped her. Now, she couldn’t hide her feelings. Her chin slowly trembled and tears filled her eyes. And there he was, his eyes were pleading too. There’s nothing Symla could do but to surrender. Right there and then, she realized that when it came to Amado, she was defenseless. Amado easily penetrates her heart. Symla would no longer wonder how that happened. The man was kind. It is not impossible to fall.
That was the exact feelings of Symla. Regardless of everything, in spite of the situation and the reality, she fell for him. No matter how she controls her feelings, it all ends there.
“Why are you crying?” he asked. He was disoriented, he didn’t know how to touch her. His face was filled with concern until she touched his hand to remove it from her face. "Symla —"
"Stop it, Amado..." she plead. Tears filled her eyes. It was draining her power. She didn’t have any power left to explain to him everything. He tried to touch her but she refused. “Please, you have to stop. Let's prioritize the war. Don’t let our feelings interfere with our missions.” she said. Her heart was hurting but what could she do? It wasn’t just about him and her. It was about their clan, the war and their mission. They needed to put it first before they think of their happiness.
She didn’t want to be exiled. Surely that would be her punishment for getting involved to the person who arrested her.
“Symla—”
“Enough!” she burst out desperately and cried. “I can’t hold it anymore, Amado. I’m responding to your kisses. I feel like it's not just a physical attraction and that's not right. I'm a vampire and you are a wolf! Do you get it?"
“I know!” he blurted too and desperately comb his hair using his fingers. He was breathing fast. Frustration was written in his eyes. He was trying to control himself too. “I know but it doesn’t matter to me, Symla. I told you before that I see you. I saw you as a woman, not what you are or who you are. Just you, Symla…”
She cried and shook her head. “You don’t understand…”
He stared at her. “Which part I don’t understand? What exactly do you want? Tell me what it is because I will do something about it.”
She took a deep breath. “I can't put my feelings first, Amado. I have an obligation to my clan and as a vampire… ”
“Ah…” he nodded but rage was written on his face. He must be annoyed by the circumstances. Symla bow her head. She couldn’t look at him in that state. “Of course. You are their hope. You're just going to give birth to any vampire. You will just let any vampire touch you.”
What she heard clutched her throat. She was embarrassed by his mockery. However, his sarcasm didn’t hide that he was hurt too. The truth broke their hearts. There’s nothing Symla could do about that fact. That was the only thing she could for her clan and it will not happen if she chose Amado.
"A-Amado..." she muttered. When he looked at her she saw his eyes filled with pain and frustrations. She bowed her head. She couldn't take his anger. The kind and gentleness in his eyes suddenly vanished. It was replaced by anger and bitterness.
"Take a rest. We will go to your clan and tell them everything. The plan is still in progress, Symla. You will come with me to seek the shaman because I do not want you to suffer. Of course, it's still important to be safe so you can fulfill your 'obligation'.” He said coldly but he made it sure to put an emphasis.
"A-am-"
"I’m out of here,"
Her tears welled up in her eyes as he walked out of the cave. She felt heavy on her chest. What else could she expect? She drove him away. She hurt him. She knew it was the right decision but damn. She was not happy at all. What the hell was wrong with her? She felt everything was falling apart. She was crushed.
She felt drained, she slowly sat on the rock and secretly moaned as she remembered Amado's face full of anger and anger at what she had said.
