I sat in the waiters room exhausted after today, I never knew how hard the waiters had it I had never seen this side of the work before, yeah they dressed better and were looked after better but that was only because they were at the front line they where still treated just the same, Anna walked in “hi, how was that?” she asked me slumping down in a chair next to me “did you see?" I asked grimacing "yeah, but that guy took full responsibility otherwise you would have been straight out of there!” Anna side eyed me "do you know him?" "No I have no idea who he is, I knew someone was behind me because the women I was serving kept staring at something but I didn’t realise how close he was! He was right up behind me so when I turned around I just slammed straight into him I'm glad he took responsibility it was all his fault!" I crossed my arms angry now that I would even possibly get told off for something that was defiantly not my fault Anna giggled at me “sure you don’t know him" I scowled I really didn’t and I had no idea why he was stood so close to me or why afterwards all I could feel his eyes on me the whole time I was working I hoped I never saw him again if he was going to get me into trouble! “Come on lets go and get some dinner, the night servers have said they will finish tidying up the hall, lets go and get you fed and straight to bed, I was told to tell you to be here for breakfast, normally servers got a bed in the servers house so that you where never to far away, but I'm pretty sure its full and they haven’t said if you are to be a full time server yet so best go home with your family for tonight and be here bright and early for 7.30am” Anna finished holding out her hand to help me up I took it using her body to haul my exhausted one up “ok, lets go eat I’ll introduce you to my mum”.

Once downstairs in the kitchens I relaxed fully my mum and sister had finished work now and where having some food me and Anna plated ourselves up some left overs and saved some for my grandmother “how was that darling?” my mother asked as I sat down, "it was ok hard work but I'm used to that anyway they want me back in the morning for breakfast” "oh good that’s good" my mother was smiling being a server was a slight step up from being a laundry maid and she was proud of me we finished our food and said goodnight to Anna and the other workers and made our way back to our little house. When leaving through the back door to the kitchens I felt the hairs stand up on the back of my neck again I spun around looking around in the darkness I couldn’t see anyone so I tried to shake it off the whole way back I felt like we where being followed, but I couldn’t see anyone and my mother told me to stop scaring my sister so I left it alone but keeping an eye out I was last to walk into the house I had one last look around and swear I saw a large shadow move across the street I quickly hurried inside wanting to forget about it, I walked over to my grandmother who was snoozing in her chair my brothers had been home before us and fed her but she had wanted to wait up for us, I gently shook her arm she stirred “grandmother its time for bed” I whispered "scarlet you are back its so late! What happened?” she asked worried “nothing just a big feast will tell you about it tomorrow now come on lets get you to bed” I walked my grandmother to bed once she was settled I got into my own bed grateful to finally rest my body, I drifted off to sleep thinking of the handsome stranger and the feeling of his hand resting on mine.

The next morning I woke really early I quickly got ready as quietly as I could, my family didn’t need to be at the castle until 8am today so I didn’t want to wake them early, I grabbed a stale piece of bread and left closing the door quietly behind me, the air was chilly outside this morning, I ate my piece of bread and wrapped my arms around myself, I didn’t feel uneasy walking to the castle this morning so I cheerfully walked through the kitchen back door, the chiefs were just cooking the morning breakfast, apparently the royals where never up for 7am but we had to be ready just encase, but seen as there wasn’t anything to do until we heard they were awake I sat in the servers quarters with the rest of the servers, Anna walked in and greeted me cheerfully "morning, Scarlet hope you slept well” she let out a huge yawn throwing her arms in the air stretching them, “yeah wasn't so bad" I let out the yawn that I had caught from Anna she chuckled quietly "so enjoy yesterday?" one of the guy servers came to sit next to me I was pretty sure his name was Ethan but it was to far along now to ask “yeah, it was better than being in the laundry room anyway” Ethan let out a hearty laugh "blimey must be bad down there then" his eyes twinkled as he looked at me he had gorgeous green eyes and the perfect smile it made little winkles around his eyes when he did his biggest smile, I smiled back at him "it really was” I looked down at my hands they were still slightly stained from working out in the fields the other week I really hoped that I could become a permant server I think life would be easier, Anna walked over to someone else for a chat leaving me with Ethan I was nervous around new people Anna made it seem like I had known her forever but Ethan made me nervous he was rather good looking as well which didn’t help “Scarlet, what do you say about taking your lunch break with me today?” I looked up at those green eyes surprised at his question “errmm yeah ok, why not” Ethan chuckled and put his arm around my shoulder instead of making me more nervous it made me relax slightly Ethan was charming and easy to talk to he was funny and made everyone laugh, I just wondered why on earth he wanted to have lunch with me, I still hadn’t washed properly from working out in the fields, I could finally have a proper bath tonight and I'm not ashamed to say I was really looking forward to it, the bell above the door rung signalling us to get in positions because the royals had woken up me and Anna went into the hall and stood in the same corner that we stood in yesterday, the king and queen entered they sat down at the table and waited for us to pour them drinks, they didn’t usually wait for each other at breakfast we just severed who turned up and they could until 11am before the chiefs stopped making breakfast and the lunch began, we served the king and queen who seemed to be unusually quiet this morning, then the guests arrived the king seemed to slightly stiffen as the guest who I remembered was Edward “morning" the queen greeted them pleasantly Edwards wife then came and sat beside him smiling happily more than grateful to receive a hot drink, the two couples then ate their food in complete silence, no one spoke until the handsome son walked in he looked as moody and sullen as always but he stopped and stared at me for a moment before taking his seat the lady guest looked over at me a smile curled on one side of her mouth when she looked away, I had no idea what these lot were about I just knew they were strange and I couldn’t wait for them to leave, the royal children then came in for breakfast, the awkwardness subsided now that the children where there but when everyone had finished Edward said that he wanted to speak to the king so they soon left the queen and the other lady also left leaving just the children and the handsome stranger I kept feeling his eyes on me again but soon they where all finished and left the hall.
