I flipped myself down in the car, tugging the blanket over my head like a frightened child. The night air was cold, yet my sweat dampened the fabric against my skin. I pressed my body lower, curling in on myself, trying to disappear into the small space. My body ached from exhaustion, and though my mind screamed at me to stay awake, my eyes betrayed me. I didn’t know when sleep stole me away, but when I blinked awake, the blanket slipped from my face. A pale brightness pricked my vision. Morning. I sat up quickly, rubbing the haze from my eyes.
