When I locked the doors to SkinnyCakes that night I was sure I’d stepped into a dream. It was another insane day where I’d sold out of everything I made and had to bake more during the day to try to keep up. I’d dreamed of days like that when I was getting SkinnyCakes ready to open. Brett’s voice always echoed in my ear when I started to get excited, reminding me I wasn’t good enough. I couldn’t do it. I’d never be anything without him. Proving him wrong felt good.
