I stared at Daniel, and I just had no idea how to deal with what was right in front of me.
“I know I don’t deserve another chance,” Daniel continued, his voice soft and gentle. “But I love you, Corey. I never stopped loving you and…and please can you just give me a chance,” the word ‘love’ felt like a slap in my face, and I managed to look away as my eyes started to burn. I could not let him do this to me again. I could not let him back in. Not after everything he had done. But it was almost as if a part of me had gone numb, and I was suddenly too tired to fight the old wounds he had reopened just by being here.
