The atmosphere in the hospital waiting room was electric. It felt as if the very air was filled with a mixture of nervous energy and excited anticipation. I looked around and took note of everyone that was either seated or standing around. Naomi and Erik. Mandy and Mark. Molly and Jaden. Damon and Vanessa. Atticus and Sophia. And of course, Maureen, Jacob’s mother. Alastair and Jacob were with Jessica. Of course, Hank and Corey were seated on either side of me, and everyone was eager, and our eyes were glued to the door.
