"We are five minutes from Alvar sir," my second in command, Alwyn says, looking at me in the mirror as we head towards the Kingdom. Kingdom Alvar was ruled by King Aldric. A cold, spindly man who treated his folk like vermin. I know I'm bad, but he's bad too. This peace treaty will still go either way once it's done. I had no intention of buying the daughter, but I'll do it anyway, even if it doesn't bring peace. I feel the car slow and look out my window, the iron gates seem large and unforgiving. We punch in the gate code, and drive in. The castle is old, run down. I had heard their finances were in rough shape, how could they not when you are willing to sell your child? We park up, exit the car and head to the door. Before we even knock, who I assume is the Queen opens the door. She is dressed in a black floor length gown. A crown of gold roses placed on her head. Black hair, black eyes. Utterly demon like.
"Ozymandius," She starts. I hold up my hand to stop her.
"King to you still, Elvenia." She looks at me cooly, but nods either way.
"Please follow me." We enter the Kingdom. It's cold, damp smelling, and they have gone overkill with the vines. Where are the nice, normal things? We follow Elvenia to the thrones, and I spy King Aldric.
"Aldric," I nod. He just sneers at me.
"Don't worry, I'm just here to get the girl and go. My man Alwyn has the gold." Alwyn steps forward and hand the case to Aldric. Aldric snatches at it, greed and hunger in his eyes. He opens the case.
"Seems like it's all here," he says. He looks to Elvenia.
"Go get the girl." Elvenia wanders off, and five minutes later she and the girl, Fayetta walk in.
The room goes silent as I stare at her. She is breathtaking. Porcelain white flawless skin, stormy gray eyes, silver hair, pale pink lips, and a silver gown. No crown considering she's a princess. I look to Aldric.
"Where is her crown? She is a princess is she not?" Her father scoffs.
"We are saving the crown for OUR daughter. Elvenia is with child and our local seer confirmed it is a girl. She will take the crown and be the rightful princess of Kindom Alvar."
"You are a beast Aldric. You don't deserve her. I will make sure she is cared for."
"You brought her for a slave."
"No, no. I brought her for whatever I please. I never mentioned the word slave. That was all you." I look to Fayetta, and cross the room to her.
"Little Fayetta,"I say, "We will be leaving at once to my Kingdom. You will be safe there. Say your goodbyes, then we will leave." She looks toward her father.
"I have no one to say goodbye to." Her voice is like tinkling wind chimes, the most perfect symphony of light music you could ever hear. I knew then I was a gonner. I nod.
"Very well, we shall leave."
