If one hadn't heard it in person, no one would believe that Winfred would say such cheesy words to a girl.
Even Lainey didn't expect it.

Winfred quickly finished all the dishes in one go.
Then he hastily stood up and said to Lainey, "I still have work to do, so I'll leave first."
Before Lainey could reply, Winfred left the dining room and went upstairs as fast as his legs could carry him.
