“Find anything Patty?” John rubbed his eyes as he felt a headache coming on. He and Patrick had been locked away in the cold dampness of the family archives, looking for anything on his Grandfather, John the First. Anything they found on him was worded so strangely. It talked about how he was the beginning of McNally pack being favored by the goddess because he proved to her his loyalty and faith. It spoke about him like he was a minister almost. That he would get calling from the Moon Goddess to remind others who had sinned and gone against her children of her and her values. He would go and meet with other Alphas and discuss his calling. Some of the alphas would hear his preaching and in lack of a better word repent and the Moon Goddess would be pleased. But any time it talked about what would happen if they continued to insult her and not heed John the First’s warnings, the writing would be missing. Almost as if the ink had been erased. Story after story, every one was the same. Ink had vanished. No record.
The other strange thing was that Elder Jameson had told John that John the First mating was the same as his, but no matter how long he and Patrick searched, they found no accounts of the mating ceremony. No mention of his mate. No mention of his wolf. Every other alphas mating was recorded in detail but not John the First.
“Mac, you know what has me most confused,” Patrick finally responded. “ we’ve been searching for hours and have found nothing that would make us think that your mating ceremony and John the Firsts has anything in common because we can’t even find that he was mated.”
“I thought that was strange too.” John agreed.
“No, that’s not what had me confused at all!” Patrick was getting irritated by his confusion and John could see he was about to lose his temper, something his younger brother barely ever did. “ What has me confused is how did Elder Jameson know if there’s no record?!”
