The treasure of the Goddess

The time has come

2:00pm. John couldn’t stop looking at his watch and pacing. Alpha Mac chuckled at his son. “Calm down lad. It’s coming. Enjoy the quiet in your own mind. It won’t last much longer and you will miss it sometimes.”

John nervously smiled up at his father. He didn’t know what he was more nervous about, meeting his wolf or meeting his mate.

Patrick stood beside his brother for support. “ calm down Mac. Everything will be fine. This is your destiny! Trust in the Moon Goddess. Everything will be fine.”

John smiled at Patrick, thankful for his kind words. John looked over the sea of his people. Every family was present to watch and support their young new alpha. He knew how important this was not only to him but to his pack. He must be perfect and not disappoint those that we’re counting on him. Once he has his Luna, everything would be okay. John took a deep breath.

Suddenly he heard it, a mix between a growl and a yawn in his head. Was that his wolf waking up? Was he literally waking up?

In John’s head, a voice, not his own, came into his mind. It was strong but strangely calm for an alpha wolf. “John McNally, my human. Hello. I am Axel. I’m your wolf. And I am the Father of Peace. I am what you might call the calm before the storm.” Axel chuckled at his own joke, even though John did not understand what he thought was clever about that comment. “ human John, you need to laugh. I am funny!” Axel sounded a bit irritated with John for not enjoying his humor. John remembered his training and focused on his wolf, “ Axel, I’m sorry if I insulted you but I didn’t understand why you thought saying you are the calm before the storm was funny. It was just strange to me.”

“Ahh yes, human John, you have not met our mate. I’ve known her a very long time. She is known to all as Storm. My name means Father of Peace, or in other words, calm. So therefore, I am the calm before the storm.” With this explanation, John laughed out loud. But then he realized, “ how did you meet her wolf before I met her? I’ve always been told we would meet her together.”

“Ahh human John, you have been given a gift. A special treasure. The 4 of us are not a normal human and wolf mated pair. I cannot tell you anymore. First you must find your mate and decide if you want to accept or reject her. I must warn you as my human, you are about to be tested. Please believe me that you must trust in our Mother Goddess and keep your faith. So much unknowns to you depends on the choices you make today and by the next full moon. Things are not as they appear at times. But this is all I am allowed to say. I will lead you to my beloved Storm and her human. It is up to you after that. I cannot help you decide in any way. Trust your fate, trust in the Mother Moon. And remember, I have told you I am the calm before the storm.” And with that, Axel pushed forward, forcing John back.

“Hello humans of the McNally pack. I am Axel, your Alpha Wolf. I’m the Father of peace and the calm before the storm. I know my shewolf but I do not know her human. Please bring forth all the unmated shewolfs of age for me to find my beloved mate and your Luna.”

The unmated females step forward but Alpha Mac suddenly stepped in front of his sons body. “Axel, why is Mac not present for finding his mate. Usually it is the human that finds her and chooses. My son has been trained in what is the proper female to choose as Luna. Why are you not giving him the chance?”

“Alpha Mac, I understand the confusion. The McNally pack has been favored by the Moon Goddess, for a long time. She has seen things she is not pleased with and she has sent a gift to help set your pack on the correct path before she has to take away her favor. As part of the gift, she has told me to make sure John is presented with the correct Luna, not the one you or your human pack think is Luna. John has already set his heart on a Luna, the wrong Luna, and the moon goddess is trying to save him, save the pack, from his misguided ways. You think you have trained him properly but I am hear to tell you that you are very wrong. Now please step aside and let me find my mate.”

“I am Alpha Mac! You dare throw these harsh judgments at me pup! You dare say I did not properly train my own son? We are strongest pack in the world under my rule! How dare you!” And with the fit of rage, Alpha Mac lunged at his own son, no longer seeing his son but only an insult.

Axel with calm and grace, stepped to the side and grabbed Alpha Mac by the throat.

“Submit Alpha! I may be the Father of Peace but don’t be fooled by the name. I am deadly. I come here on a mission from the Goddess herself so no man nor wolf is going to stop me until I have completed her mission. She is showing you and your people amazing mercy! Accept your fate and submit to me now!” Axel radiated power-far beyond that of Alpha Mac. The old Alpha had no choice but to submit.

“Now,” Axel said turning to the crowd, “let me find my mate.”
