Emotions

“What is this?” I ask. “This is my daughter, Petra Bertram. The jewel of my life. I hereby ask you, Alfred Zeidan to take her hand in marriage--” “Are you mad?” I interrupted him before I took a step back. Marriage? What was he on about? I have no interest in winning these pity fights, let alone take a wife. The responsibility of keeping her safe would be far too greater than he would think. “Alfred . . . let us unite our houses and end this conflict of ours so that we may live in peace. I beg of you,” he said before he started shaking. His wife buried her face in her hands desperately, trying to stop the tears. Should I be insulted? But nonetheless, she appeared to be startled, but she was calm. I turned to her. “Is this truly what you want?” I asked her, gazing into her bright eyes. Quite breathtaking, they were. She had something about her that made her stand out from all the different women I met, but love is a valley that I do not cross, but why do I feel this eerie feeling about her? What is this sensation I’m feeling? Is it lust? “If it is to end the conflict between us, and would result in peace . . . yes,” she said calmly. I admire her courage. But how stupid is that? To condemn the entirety of your life to your most hated rival just so that yours would not perish? I couldn’t understand if it was an honorable sacrifice, or simply the rampage of a foolish, old vampire who knows not how to save his kin. “No,” I said before I turned and gave them my back. “Whatever issue you have with my father, go fix it yourself. I will not partake, I will not be drawn in your conflict.” I started to walk, but I could hear the whims of the wife grow even louder. How scared are they from my family? How did they get to this point? Don’t get me wrong, I am the Fortier, the strongest Vampire alive by a mile, but they housed some monsters of themselves. There was Roger, one who is not only feared, but respected as well. The gossips about him says that he is aiming to assume my title. Am I worried? No. I do not even think it possible for me to lose against him. The thing is, they do not understand my true power, and to what extent my strength grew and that will be the death of anyone challenging me. “I'm coming with you.” I heard Petra's voice coming from behind me, I turned my head, and the foolish princess is actually following me. Just what is going through her mind? That I will get so sick of her that I'll marry her eventually and save her family from my own? “You'll do no such thing,” I said, before I opened the door and vanished into thin air. Well, not exactly . . . I just jumped forward. To an untrained eye it would look as if I disappeared. But I really couldn't be bothered with them anymore. I have to meet my father the first thing in the morning. I needed to rest and calm my nerves. For as vicious as I may sound to you, my father is ten folds more. I'm just content that I am the Fortier and not him.
