Layla I gritted my teeth as anger surged through my veins. My hands itched to knock out at least two of Carlton's teeth, but I promised myself I wouldn't rise to the bully’s antics. Besides, I was too exhausted even to fight right now. Instead, I ignored him and turned to Jody. “Carla isn't one of the five,” I said with unhappiness seeping into my tone. “Yeah,” Jody said, his expression completely downcast. “I wanted all three of us to make the pack army together.” “Me too. Let's wait till she gets back.” While the rest of the winners made their way back to their houses, Jody and I sat and waited for Carla and the other participants, and after a while, they all began to file in— beaten, battered and completely brutalized. It looked like everyone had it rough in the forbidden forest.
