I waited for a few minutes before Carla returned with Jody.
“Hey, Layla. What are you doing here?” Jody asked, and I was mildly surprised that he seemed pleased to see me. He could look me in the eyes now, and it seemed every ounce of awkwardness from the day before was gone.
“I have huge news. You two would want to sit down for this,” I said, patting Carla's bed which I was already seated on. The siblings took their seats, waiting for the news eagerly. “So, guys. I've been given an invitation to join the pack army.”
Jody’s eyes went wide and Carla let out a squeal. “Are you serious?!” Carla exclaimed, wide-eyed and Jody's face broke into a wide, proud smile.
