Laxy POV
We walked towards the steps; torches lit up the room. I walked towards the first step taking a peek at how far it goes. It was hard to tell, but torches were leading down the steps.
"Still confident about your answer?" Aiden asked.
I chose to stay silent as I continued staring.
"Well, we can always turn ba-" The mysterious man was interrupted by a loud bang.
I jumped, looking behind us, the door shut.
"Or not" He shrugged.
"Well, let's hope you're right; I shouldn't have trusted you," Aiden spoke, pushing past me as he walked down the stairs.
The others followed him quickly; I glared at them in disgust but walked down the stairs. I was glad we could see that they don't have a reason to trust me, but I demand they at least hear me out or something, not just shoving me aside. I'm trying to survive, too, in this place. I sighed heavily as we reached the last step.
It was a room filled with multiple doors on our right and left only. I walked up to one of the doors at the left, grabbing the handle, and tried to jiggle the door open, locked. Preston tried a door on the right; it was locked as well. The other three had the same issue with their entries.
"A second puzzle?" Preston's ears perked up.
Aiden stared at me, threatening me, "Look around for a type of key or anything that can help us out, you" He pointed at me, "Stay put if you dare move, I will be the one murdering you, you aren't helping us."
I stood there gawking; he did not. I just helped them out with the first puzzle, but I am ordered to sit around! I huffed and leaned on one of the doors as I watched them search the room. Well, I mainly was sending my hate to Aiden, throwing my punches in my mind. If I were to fight him, I indeed die, so for now, I will dream about kicking him in the face. Aiden peeked around corners and ran his hand against the walls seeing if he would catch something.
Aiden's hand touched something as a smirk grew, "Ah-ha! I found a button!"
Preston looked at him, "Alright, just make sure you don't-" he tried to warn him.
Aiden, without a second thought, pushes the button.
Meg marched her way over to him, slapping him on the head, "Give me one good reason not to attack you for being an idiot." Aiden just stared at her, confused; her face beamed red in anger. "Who in their right mind pushes an unknown button!?!" She yelled at him.
He shrugged, and I mentally hit my head against the wall; he should of let me help. Maybe I, the genius who solved the first puzzle, could help the i***t not press a button! The floor started to shake underneath us.
"Oh, look, Aiden, the floor moving, I wonder why?" I rolled my eyes.
He glared at me before the floor started to tilt downwards. I screamed a little tried grabbing onto the door handle before sliding down against the wall, that's now a floor. Preston slid down next to me; the mysterious man was on the other side of me. Soon Meg and Aiden slid down next to us.
"See, we are alive," Aiden spoke proudly of himself.
Meg swung her hand, slapping him, "No thanks to you, imbecile!" She yelled at him.
Before we could argue, the floor opened, and we slid right down. I screamed at the unexpected drop. There was nothing to grab on as we were sliding down; I heard Meg yelling at Aiden for our situation. We went through a dark tunnel before I couldn't listen to their voices again.
"Guys!?!" I yelled out.
I saw a torch outside the tunnel, and when I was out, I was on the slide alone. I looked to my left and then to my room; the once huge floor was small enough to fit one person now. It was cut off into five sections; we all went different ways. I hope we meet up again; I frowned nervously about being alone. As much as I hated Aiden and the mysterious man's guts, they did protect me. I saw an opening reaching the end of my journey, but the platform was big again. My eyes sparkled in relief; we were going to meet up!
I put my feet onto the floor in an attempt to slow down; at this speed, I might fly onto the ground. I was able to slow myself down enough to get down from the slide without falling over safely. I looked around at my surrounding there was eight entrance leading into what looked like a maze. I heard and small yelp; looking behind me, I saw Meg dusting herself off in frustration.
"You are alright!" I smiled
She looked at me as her tail wagged, nodding her head; I looked at the other tunnels spotting Aiden, who fell onto his face when he came down. Meg lightly kicked him; still mad at him, Preston came down like a fox to slow his fall down, and soon the mysterious man joined us.
"Hunter!" Meg yelled as she rushed over to him, pulling him into a hug.
Hunter? That's his name!
"So your name Hunter?" I spoked.
They both looked at me; Hunter slowly nodded his head before hugging Meg back. I looked back at the maze; there was another sign hanging from one of the entrances.
I made my way over reading it out loud, "Found your way to the end, choose wisely, or you are stuck forever. Sometimes being alone is your best option."
"No way I'm leaving Meg alone," Aiden spoke protectively.
"The feeling isn't mutual. I'd gladly leave." Meg snapped back, sticking her tongue at him.
Aiden glared at her and walked beside me, rereading the side, "We should let this human sit this one out. She the one that leads us into the mess."
I felt my blood boil, "I did!?! I did!?! I wasn't the one who pushed a button! If anything, you should be the one left behind! I let us out the first puzzle alive while you-! You pushed a button that could have killed us! A stupid button! What are you five years old!?! Did no one ever teach you to use your brain? It would be nice for a higher-up to think for once!" I yelled in anger, done with him; I'm not just a human. I can be helpful, and I will prove myself.
Aiden stood there hurt by words, even more, angry at me, but I couldn't care less. I wanted to punch him, that it mentally hurts me to hold back at this point. He deserves more than a punch. Honestly, I will not tolerate this disrespect anymore.
