Sealed and bonded

Riya's POV As soon as the wedding after-party ended, I was relieved and eager to go home. More than anything, I wanted to escape the awkwardness and intensity of the night. As if he could read my mind, Hiram bid the couple and the Luna a goodnight before taking my hand again and leading us out of the hall. "Are you okay?" He asked me soon as we got into the car. I faked a closed mouthed smile and nodded my head at him. "Yes." "You can do better than lying. You look like you just escaped from hell." He replied before starting his car. Soon, we arrived at his mansion that seemed to look even more beautiful and majestic at night with the lights that illuminated from the large glass windows. I followed him into the house and Candice helped receive my handbag into my bedroom. I tried to follow her upstairs but Hiram stopped me before I would. "Not yet, Riya. We have some important stuff to go through together." He said, plopping himself on the expensive leather couch in the living room. With a tired sigh, I walked to him and sat on another couch opposite him. He pushed a handwritten paper towards me and I picked it from the table, letting my eyes take in the contents. Written in bold letters at the top of the sheet was the heading; HOUSE RULES AGREEMENT BETWEEN HIRAM JAX AND RIYA WARREN. "Rule number one. You are to stick to your room and to your lane. Do not go close to my room or even try to touch my stuff." He voiced out the rules as I read through them as though he had already memorized them. Obviously, he had. "Rule number two. Always dress decently and responsibly. I do not entertain nudity in my house." I nodded as he continued to speak. "Rule number three. Do not speak to me or try to befriend me. I do not make friends, nor do I wish to talk to anyone." "I never planned to befriend or talk to you either, Hiram." I looked up from the paper and threw a sarcastic smile at him. What the hell did he take me for? Someone who idolized him so badly? I wouldn't even be here for the first time if not for our deal. "Good." He cleared his throat before he continued. "Rule number four. We shall call each other's name using honorifics only. I shall not entertain any room for informality unless we are in public or there is a third presence around. Do you understand, Ms. Warren?" I nodded and tried my best to hold back a laugh at how serious he looked. "Noted, Mr. Jax." "Good." He rose from the couch. "You can find the other rules written down in that piece of paper you're holding right now. Do well to go through it. I hope you can abide by these simple house rules." "You bet." "I'm glad we understand each other. Goodnight, Ms. Warren." He said to me before taking his leave. As he headed upstairs, I couldn't take my eyes off him. He had the most majestic aura I had ever perceived in a person and his presence was intimidating, yet breathtaking. I wondered how I was able to give my chastity, three years ago, with a man so powerful and cold. As my mind tried to drift back to that night, the memories seemed vague and far fetched. It was a drunken night, so I couldn't blame myself for barely remembering anything. But I could never forget the feeling because it was one of the best feelings of my life. ……………. Time, they say…., runs very fast. In a blink of an eye, it was already the next week. The same week of the mating ceremony between Hiram and I. It had been a busy week for us. The best fashion designer in the entire pack has come to take my measurements for my wedding dress and the servants were up and about, helping the chefs and event planners prepare for the event. It felt like a dream– that I would be getting mated to Hiram Jax; the most attractive, yet most feared man in the whole pack. And yet, here I was, walking slowly and steadily in my wedding dress, towards the altar while Hiram and the wolf witch; Hannah, waited for me patiently. I could feel the hundreds of eyes prickle into my skin as I walked past the crowd of guests that were seated by my sides. Some of them stared at me in contempt and hate, some in pure disbelief and others eyed me suspiciously. My eyes met with Casper's and his own eyes held disbelief. He was probably shocked that I would get mated to his cousin, a week after we had broken up. I smiled mentally in self satisfaction. I was just getting started. They had no idea what was coming for them. When I finally reached the altar, Hiram held my hand softly and helped me stand before him. The wolf witch read the vows to us and we repeated after her. After that, she tied a red knot between Hiram and I, before using her powers to invoke a light flame that burned the knot into ashes. It was the mate bond. And that only meant one thing. Hiram and I had been sealed. He was my mate and I was his. Was this how far I would go to take my revenge? Even if I wanted to change my mind, it was too late now. There was no turning back. We had already been sealed together by the mate bond.
