Old life, be gone!

Riya’s POV The next day, I woke up by noon. I had been too depressed to wake up as early as I used to. When I finally woke up at about 2pm, I was greeted by the notification on my phone from Everything Crescent Pack. Opening the notification, I was welcomed by the big, bold headline; CRAZY WOMAN CRASHES PRINCE CASPER’S WEDDING. I gasped and my eyes flew open at the headlines and the photo of me below, capturing the moment when the guards were dragging me away. My face looked silly and somewhat distorted at the way I cried and tried to fight off their grips. “Stupid, stupid, stupid, Riya.” I cussed and slapped myself on the face countless times. I had always dreamed of making it to the front pages of Everything Crescent Pack but not for something this dumb and embarrassing. I browsed through the comments and went tomato red on the face at the hilarious comments from thousands of readers. ‘Oh, my goodness! Does she not have any shame?’ ‘Maybe she escaped from the asylum. Lmao.’ ‘She looks like a pathetic, heartbroken lover.’ ‘A pathetic heartbroken lover, you say? Lmfao. She looks like someone from the gutters. The prince would never have anything to do with her.’ ‘Y’all, I know her. I was at her dress shop yesterday. She left us inside and hurried out. Who would’ve thought she went to crash the prince’s wedding? You guys are right. She’s nuts. Lol.’ I threw my phone to the small table next to my bed and buried my face into a pillow, screaming my frustration into it. This was it. This was the end of my life. I would be the laughing stock of the pack. I would be stigmatized for life. A knock came on my door and I paused, startled. Who was it by my door? I didn't have any friends and no one had knocked on my door for weeks. Was it the online trolls who had come to laugh at my face? The knock came again and I got off my bed and headed for the door cautiously. I peeped through the door hole to take a look at whoever was knocking and a frown crossed my head upon seeing that it was Hiram. I blinked and pulled away, taking a moment to take a good look at my small, messy apartment. It looked clustered and chaotic with heaps of clothes scattered all over and piled over the worn out cushions. There were books, dirty dishes and sewing tools all over the floor too. “Hold on a minute!” I raised my voice at him over the door and delved into a frenzy mode, running around the living room to pick up all the mess. “You can't keep me outside for long. It’s hot out here.” His voice came from the outside, adding fuel to my body as I ran helter-skelter to fix the place. Heaven knows what he would think of me if he entered this apartment to see this kind of mess. He would believe I was a pig. “Just give me a minute!” I yelled back at him and hastened my speed. In a few seconds, I finished clearing up the room and packing the mess into my bedroom, knowing he wouldn't venture into my bedroom. I hurried towards the door and opened the door to behold Hiram standing in my doorway with his hands tucked into the pockets of his well fitting trousers. He was wearing a well tailored white crisp shirt that clung to his well-built body and showed off his toned arms and biceps. His long salt and pepper hair was packed in a low bun as usual and his dark, intense eyes bore into mine. I cleared my throat and managed to look away. “Why are you here?” I asked, finally escaping from the trance of his devilishly alluring good looks. Hiram could easily pass for the most handsome man in the pack. Followed next by Casper. That betraying bastard. “To pick you and take you to my place.” He went straight to the point as he always did. “You are to become my wife and bear me a son in return for power and glory. Did you forget?” How could I? Whoever forgets their deal with the devil? “You are making it sound like it's a real thing.” I ran my fingers through my messy red hair, feeling hot and awkward. The thought of a marriage with Hiram and the process of taking in a child made me shy and nervous. “The only unreal part about our deal is the marriage. The love making and the baby are going to be real.” I choked on my breath at the bluntness of his words and I coughed to regain myself. Hiram gave me a blank look, not looking the least affected with his own words. “You don’t have to make a big deal out of this, Riya. Not like it's the first time we’re going to be having sex.” My cough intensified and I hit my chest softly to calm it down. Could he just shut up already? “Are you supposed to pick me up this early?” I recovered from the cough and found my voice again. “Yes.” He answered. “As agreed, our deal starts today. You start living with me today and we sign the agreed paperworks.” “Oh.” I mouthed. He raised a questioning brow at me. “So…, are you going to let me in or not?” “Oh. Sure. Come in.” I led him inside and his eyes explored my room. I could not tell what he was thinking because he never expressed his emotions through his facial expression or even his body. He was one cold, emotionless being. Someone I should be afraid of. Not making a deal with. "Uh…" My eyes traveled around the room, looking for a better seat for him. I gestured to one of the least old cushions with a stupid smile pasted to my face. "Please, have a seat." He casted a look at the cushion, back to me and back to the cushion again before he walked towards it to have his seat. He sat rather comfortably as if it was suited for him. "Pack up." His words came in the form of an order and he peered at me, not taking his eyes off me for a second. I nodded and hurried into my room to pack up. I packed the things I knew I'd need. Some clothes, other personal belongings, books and the small framed photos of my family. I lingered for a moment as I stared at the perfect picture of my family, smiling widely in the photo. It was a picture of my parents, my elder brother and my youngest sister that we had taken on the beach a few months before they were killed in a ghastly car accident. I was the only one who had survived. I was fourteen then and had wished I had died along with them. I still wished the same till this day. Life had no purpose ever since I lost them. I had lived a difficult life, missing them every single day. I was cut off guard by Hiram clearing his throat behind me. I turned my head to see him standing by the door. A small frown was knitted on his forehead and if I was not mistaken, it gave a look of concern. "Is everything alright?" I nodded and threw a fake close mouthed smile at him. "Yes." I dropped the framed photos into my bag and zipped it up. I packed the bags into my hand and Hiram held out a hand to help me with one of them. I handed one of the bags to him without arguing. "I forgot to mention…my dress shop…" "Put it up for rent." He told me. "I'll open a new one for you." I blinked again in disbelief. Was he serious right now? Wasn't this like a scene in some CEO romance novel or movie? "Let's go." He led the way out of the room and I followed suit like an obedient sheep. Well, well, Riya. Welcome to your new world of CEO werewolves, new luxurious dress shops, power and…secrets. Dark, dangerous secrets.
