Clare went back to entering patient notes on the computer, trying to ignore the tattooed teenage boy sneering at her from across the room. Where was Dan? And why would he want her to leave on such a busy morning? He was acting very strangely, even for Dan.
She hadn’t been so confused about a man for a long time, maybe never. Clare thought back to her early days with Adam. His dazzling advocacy had been the talk of Brisbane’s legal set, and she’d been more than a little star-struck when the hot-shot young barrister had asked her out.
