In daylight, the cemetery took on a different character. The eerie, New England vibe hung over it still, but the gnarled branches of the trees and silhouettes of the tombstones were much less intimidating. And much less of a tripping hazard. Kate's mourners filed in from the procession a distance away. The numbers dwindled down in the cemetery, many of our classmates gone to leave family and closer friends.
