Storme’s POV
I left the meeting room in a hurry and went into my office. Old man Hunter had summoned an emergency meeting to make plans for an attack on the vicious howl pack after discovering that one of their members was responsible for the commotion at the mating ceremony.
The old man should have died already, or at least left the Alpha duties to me already. Maybe the story would have been different if I was already the alpha.
“f**k!” I cursed.
Why did Zara have to find out now? Of all times, why did it have to be now? I had covered my tracks so perfectly for years, and now everything had to come out in the open? Now when I was so close to achieving my one goal?
Bang! My fist landed on the office table and the items o on the table scattered across the floor.
I was furious. How would I face her now that she knew the truth? And what if she decided to tell her father and he changed his mind about making me Alpha?
“No…no… she wouldn’t do that. I know she wouldn’t. She loves the old man so much and would never tell him anything that would stress him or worsen his health... Ah..ah,” I gave a satisfied chuckle and sat down on my chair.
“Now I call this first rate luck, the universe is on my side,” I said to myself, the noise in my head finally calming down.
I would hold on to this small piece of hope and hope that everything went according to my plans.
I should talk to Zara, text her, just tell her anything.
I picked up my phone and sent her a text, a brief apology. I didn’t know what else to say.
The door opened and Selene walked in.
Damn! She looked sexy in the red dress that hugged her figure perfectly, her hair was done up and it gave her a serious look, like a badass sexy boss.
“You should close your mouth, you look ready to devour me,” she said and rolled her eyes, coming to sit on the desk in front of me.
I came back to my senses.
“Selene! What are you doing here? You know you can’t be here, you’re gonna put us both in trouble!” I whispered like someone was going to hear me.
“Well?” She sounded disgusted.
“You didn’t finish what you started with me this morning, that’s why I came. Let’s continue from where we stopped,” she added with a sexy voice amd sat astride my laps.
“Are you craz… she cut me off with a kiss.
For a moment, I melted away under her and responded to her hungry kisses.
Then, the realization of what could happen if anyone caught us like this overpowered me and I pushed her off.
I got up from the chair and stood at a safe distance.
“You’re going to get us caught, again! And everything I worked so hard for all my life is going to come crumbling down because of you, don’t you get it?” I glared at her in anger.
“You need to talk to Zara, just tell her anything. We need to do damage control at this point, keep her in check and make sure she stays put, okay?” I added in a frustrated tone.
She simply straightened her dress and walked out without sparing me as much as a glance.
I heaved a sigh of relief when the door closed behind her.
Sometimes, I felt Selene was too much. She had so much passion that I feared that one day, it would become too much for me and consume me.
It was never part of my intentions to cheat on Zara. In fact, I was totally on board with her father’s plans to make me Alpha of the bloodmoon pack with Zara as my Luna, I never even thought I had any other choice apart from what was placed in front of me, until Selene started making moves to me. She started with random compliments, telling me how good I looked, to barging in on me and Zara when we were having alone time, to coming to ask me for help in my room at ungodly hours.
I don’t know how she did it, I just woke up one day to find myself seriously entangled with her. She offered me something I didn’t know I could have, a kind of passionate love that would only be a far-fetched dream with Zara.
Zara was good no doubt, she ticked all my boxes, she was kind, gentle, and loved me so much. But I hated how predictable she was. Selene gave me suspense, made me excited, and stirred something in me I didn’t know existed.
I was ready to go all the way with Selene. I just needed old man Hunter out the way first, Zara would be alright. Especially since she had a mate now, they would meet soon enough, and whoever he was, I hoped he would show up quickly and take her off my hands.
A soft rap sounded at the door and a maid came in bearing a tray.
“I brought your iced coffee, sir,” she said and dropped the tray on the coffee table.
I waved her off in dismissal.
Almost immediately, Ethan came in with a serious look on his face. He was my assistant, and sometimes I thought he took his job a little too seriously.
“Yes?” I asked.
“The Alpha wants to see you immediately,” He replied.
I left what I was doing and set off for alpha Hunter’s office.
A wave of icy cold air hit me as I opened the door and stepped in. The man was strange, ine would expect amsomeone as old as him with weak bones to prefer warmth, but his rooms were always icy cold.
I took in the environment. The office was big, with giant potted plants placed at odd angles, my footsteps echoed through the wooden floorboard as I walked across the huge space towards his table.
“Come here,” he gestured to me with his hand as he rolled his wheelchair over to the sitting area.
“The attack will take place in four days, so you have enough time to prepare,” he started immediately I took my seat on the sofa.
“Ready the boys and weapons, I have instructed my secretary to give you the keys to the weaponry. Take only what you need, the attack will be on their estate. Destroy a few buildings and take down some of their men, it’s a small price to pay for disrupting my daughter’s ceremony.”
“You can leave now,” he added with a note of finality.
I stood from my seat, bowed to him, and went back to my office.
I called Ethan and he joined me in my office.
“There will be a meeting tomorrow morning, we need to plan how to take those fools. Inform the soldiers about the development,” I said, fingering the keys that secretary Smith had handed over to me while leaving the Alpha’s office.
