Melissa’s POV
Now that I had gathered enough evidence against the thorn in my flesh, I felt it was time to finally bring her down.
I knew something was fishy right from the night of the mating ceremony. She found her mate that night, but went in deceiving everyone like she hadn’t, the sly fox.
After several years of being sidelined because of that witch’s daughter, fate was finally becoming kind to me. I’d had to share virtually everything with her, my parent’s love, attention, and position as dad’s favorite.
It had always been my dream to become the next leader of the bloodmoon pack, but my father was too shortsighted to let me, a female, manage the affairs of the pack after his death. He would rather place everything in the hands of Storme, a stranger, together with his precious daughter, Zara.
Not that I had a problem with Storme becoming the next Alpha, I just didn’t want Zara to be or have anything. I wanted her to feel how much pain I felt for years because of her, she stole my place as the favorite daughter, now my father hardly even remembered that I existed.
She stole the one who should have been my friend and confidante, my sister, Maya, they had become inseparable from the first night she and her mother came to disrupt our happy family. Because of her, I watched everything I loved and wanted slip away from me. My family, and my dream, but there was one thing she would never lay be able her wretched hands on, no matter how hard she tried.
I smiled as I remembered how yesterday, he had held me tenderly after an intense lovemaking session in his house. I brought my legs together just to feel that painful yet sweet tinge of the rememberance of what we shared.
“Matt, mine…” I murmured satisfactorily into the pillow.
I had met him at a birthday dinner hosted by a former classmate, he had come in wearing a red suit, looking confused and hot as ever, and I had fallen for him almost immediately.
He was wolfless, a pure human, but I loved him anyway, and hoped to be with him someday after I had gotten my revenge on Zara and all this was over. There was nothing to look forward to as a member of the bloodmoon pack anyway, and with my father gone, I would have no one on my side anymore, and I wasn’t ready to take the lonely road.
A loud knock sounded at the door, interrupting my train of thoughts.
“Who’s that?” I shouted and went to the door to see who it was.
“It’s you,” I said indifferently as Selene walked through the door, pushing me slightly.
“Yes, it’s me,” she replied and sat on my bed, crossing her legs.
I disliked the sight of her right from the beginning, but because of what I wanted to achieve, I had to tolerate her with her shenanigans.
“It’s been weeks, and you haven’t said anything on what we talked about. That b***h has been getting on my nerves and I can’t wait to get rid of her. You said you had evidence, where is it? Or were you just bluffing? I’m beginning to think that this whole business with you is…”
“Get out,” I cut her rambling off. I was getting disgusted by her words and had started to regret why I let her in on my plans in the first place.
She placed her hand on her heaving chest, feigning surprise.
“I said, get out of my room!” I shouted as she scrambled to her feet and ran out, banging the door behind her.
Yikes!
Zara sure had a lot of things to pay for, and one of them was letting me get mixed up with this lowlife of a Selene. I wondered where she had met her, but then again, they were both bitches, and wouldn’t it be natural for bitches to flock together?
How could she just walk into my room and demand for evidence? Like I was working for her?
“What a fool! She really must think I’m helping her,” I chuckled.
She was very stupid to think I would just pop out of bed and offer to take down my own sister just to make her feel good. Everything I was doing was solely for me, Selene just happened to be a tool that would make my work easier.
My phone vibrated and a text came in, it was a picture message from an unsaved number.
I unlocked the phone and viewed the message.
“Aaarrrgggghhhh, this is what I’m talking about!” I screamed in sheer happiness.
It was a picture of Zara and a man standing close enough to be in a compromising position, the angle was unclear, but it was incriminating enough.
I couldn’t see the man’s face clearly, but somehow I knew that he was the mate she had talked about with Maya.
“What luck!” I exclaimed.
A call came in and I picked it up.
“Yeah, I’ve seen it,” I said into the receiver.
“I’ll send your balance right away,” I added and dropped the call.
It was the person I had hired to tail Zara and bring me every information about her movements after that night when I eavesdropped on her telling Maya about her escapades.
“All that money didn’t go to waste,” I smirked and stomach rumbled.
I must have used up all my energy getting excited, now I was hungry. So I decided to get some snacks from the kitchen, only to find Selene moping by the foot of the stairs.
I walked past her and went on my way, only to be greeted by a soft pull on my dress.
I looked back. It was Selene holding on to the tip of my dress, and looking up at me with pleading eyes.
“I’m sorry about the other time,” she begged, not letting go of the hem of my dress.
The b***h, so she knew how to be polite?
“Ah,” I laughed inwardly.
I nearly got carried away by her expression but stopped myself and scolded her.
“What do you think you’re doing? There are people watching here, don’t be silly,” I said curtly and walked away.
I looked back and gave her a final instruction in low tones.
Meet me at the deserted area behind the estate, near the woods, by 9pm tonight.
