Fated with the enemy pack’s Alpha

Caught!

Zara’s POV

Maya had booked us tickets to the movies, but couldn’t make it because the Alpha had called her away suddenly. I couldn’t yet find the courage to face him again, after the last time, so going with her to answer his call was out of the question.

“You should go, Zara,” Maya had said, patting my braids.

“But you won’t be there, I don’t think there’s any movie in the world worth seeing when you’re not there to see it with me,” I replied.

She let out a soft chuckle and said, “You flatter me too much, Zee. But I insist, you should go, clear up your mind and actually meet people! You can’t be daddy’s daughter forever you know.”

“I have to go to Father now, I wonder what he wants to talk to me about,” she added and left my room.

“Ugh,” I grunted and grabbed the shabbiest, and biggest sized clothes from my closet.

“Goodluck attracting anybody in these,” I muttered, putting the clothes on with a mischievous grin.

Maya had succeeded in persuading me to go to the movies, alone. And as if it wasn’t bad enough, I had caught sight of Lucien with his lover sitting not far away from where I sat.

I immediately regretted why I listened to Maya, there was nowhere to hide now, except for the hope that he wouldn’t notice me. But that was hard, nearly impossible, he knew my scent, he would know that I was here.

It would only be a matter of time before he would sniff me out and catch me.

I let out a sigh and my wolf whimpered.

“Good thing I chose the shabby clothes, I can sneak out when the movie is over without him seeing me,” I said under my breath in a reassuring voice.

My relief was short-lived when I glanced at where he was sitting and saw him staring at me with fury in his cold eyes. My palms immediately became sweaty and my vision blurred, the images on the screen merging together to form an incredibly ugly blob of weird colors.

I couldn’t wait for the movie to be over before dashing out through the entrance, making sure to blend in with the crowd of people leaving the cinema.

I was sure he was at my back, chasing quietly behind me, waiting for an opportunity to drag me away from curious eyes and cut my throat.

My wolf yelped in fear as I fumbled in my bag for my phone. To be on the safe side, I needed to order a taxi which would take me back home. Waiting for the bus would mean giving him the time and access to harass me or fulfil his one of his numerous threats.

Outside, I stood by the road, waiting for the taxi to arrive while looking over my shoulder to see if he was coming behind me, when suddenly, I sighted him coming towards me.

I panicked.

He hadn’t seen me yet, people moved away from his large, imposing frame as he looked around furtively, searching for me.

“Where was his partner?” I wondered.

The taxi arrived and I jumped in immediately, glad to be able to escape from him before he caught up with me.

“Get me out of here!” I barked at the taxi driver and he sped up immediately.

“We’re here ma’am,” he said as the car came to a halt in front of the gate.

“So quick?” I asked in astonishment as I paid him and went inside.

The compound was abuzz with conversation. Pack members, even the ones who didn’t live in the estate were all here. They stood in groups of two and threes, discussing in hushed tones.

“What’s happening?” I asked myself, raising my brows.

One person cleared their throat and the others looked in my direction, putting a hush on the buzz going on.

“How are you doing?” I greeted Gwen with a smile, but received the shock of my life as she eyed me with disgust and hissed. I was shocked because she used to like me and had always been the first to greet me.

“Well, that’s strange,” I said, stopping to talk to her, but changed my mind immediately and kept walking. That was when I noticed that Gwen wasn’t the only one giving me weird looks.

Some were pointing at me, murmuring inaudible words to each other.

I became scared. What could be happening? Why was everyone standing outside and looking at me strangely? Was it my father? Had something happened to him?

My stomach sank and I raced into the house, running blindly for the stairs, I needed to find him. I couldn’t imagine anything bad happening to him right now, my heart would break.

My eyes burned as tears formed in them, the sinking feeling in my stomach made me unsteady, tripping twice on the steps till I bumped into someone.

“Ouch!” We groaned at the same time.

“Maya!”

“It’s you, Zee!” She whispered, dragging me up the stairs all the way to the end of the dark hallway.

“What has happened? I saw people outside and they were all behaving strangely. Is father okay?” I asked, the words stumbling out of my mouth.

“It’s not him, Zee. It’s you, the people you saw outside, they are here because of you!” She sobbed.

“Me, why? What happened, what have I done?” I asked, more puzzled than ever. Maya was making things more difficult with her tears, my heart pounded wildly as I waited for her to explain what was happening.

“They know! The pack, Father, everybody, they know that you found your mate, and now they know who he is, and the pack he belongs to!” She said in between sobs.

I broke out in a cold sweat. This couldn’t be happening. I pinched myself hard to confirm that I wasn’t dreaming and winced in pain.

“They know?” I asked Maya, my voice breaking.

“And that’s not even the worst part, Zee. Someone spread the rumour that you have been seeing him secretly and leaking pack information to him, and that it’s probably why our pack couldn’t do much damage to them during the last attack,” she added.

I sank to the cold floor as she talked.

“Noooo,” I screamed in panic.

“Where’s father? I need to talk to him, where is he???” I asked frantically as I scrambled to my feet and ran towards his room.

Maya tried to hold me back but I snatched my hand away from hers and ran.

He would believe me, he had to. Leaking pack information? No way! He knew I would never do such a thing.

The few times I had met Lucien was him either threatening to kill me or casting murderous glances at me. How could that have translated into meeting him secretly?

I opened the door to father’s study and went in.

“Father!”
