Chapter 17 1901/2015This dreamtime Mary wasn’t even in her tent, or in her century as far as she could tell. She stood on a wooden platform that still smelled of fresh pine like that brand new modern observation deck, and all she heard was crickets. The moonlight in the cool air was bright enough to let her see an old-fashioned train depot with deep eaves and graceful curved roof supports, but she couldn’t read the name of the town on the sign. Mary gasped when she tried to breathe in the mixed scents of roasting meat from somewhere close by and sulfurous coal smoke from closer by.
