“Are you sure your name is Jacqueline?” he asks, rubbing his jaw. This question again? Why doesn’t he believe me when I tell him my name? Does he think if he continues to ask I'll suddenly change my answer?
“Yes,” I answer, trying to sound confident. Another silence settles between us. I'm not sure what more he wants me to say. I really don't know anything that could be of value to someone like him.
“Tell me more about you,” he commands me. He props his ankle on the opposite knee and relaxes back into the chair. While admittedly there isn't much to tell... I don't really know this man other than his reputation and his actions in the brief moments I've been awake.
