Calling for help

When Jim got home it was almost 9pm , he thought Emily must've fallen asleep already so he opened the door slowly trying to not to make any sound. When he saw the tv was still on in the living room he went there and to his surprise Emily was not sleeping. Her eyes were focused on the screen.

" Em you're still up by this time?" he said as he walked up to her.

When Emily hears a voice she got frightened and calmed down after she recognized the owner of the voice. " And you're coming from work at this time?" her voice was motionless.

Jim knew that she was angry. He quickly sat beside her and tried to hug her but Emily pushed his hands off and scooted over to get away from him. When he was this Jim knew he gotta come up with the best excuse.

" I was at work okay ? I was working extra shifts so I can make more money to pay for your flight ticket.And I'm sorry for not informing you that I'll come late." Jim tried to be convincing as possible.

" Wow Jen, you know you're a good liar. If I didn't come and see it for myself I would have believed you already." Emily sneered.

Jim didn't understand the meaning behind her words, and how did she know that he was now being called as jen? " What do you mean by that, if you didn't come you would have believed me?"

Emily sniffed and looked at him. Jim saw her slightly swollen eyes and guessed she had been crying. Jim felt a sharp pain in his heart after seeing that she made her cry again. He honestly didn't know why it happened right after the day they just resolved the other misunderstanding they had.

" I called you and didn't pick up my calls. I thought you were busy so I didn't call anymore. I cooked dinner and waited for you to show up, but you didn't. I decided to wait a bit longer but still no sign of you coming home. I called again and your phone was off. I got scared but told convinced myself maybe you're still busy and I waited till I couldn't no more. I got scared thinking something bad happened to you so I went to the restaurant to check up on you, but guess what..." she paused and chuckled with regret before continuing..

" I was told that you left hours ago. I...l..l" she stutters as her voice became hoarsy. " When your manager saw how worried I was, he told me that you must've went somewhere else to meet up with someone. He told me that he overhead some of your conversation with Kesha Hope that she asked you to meet up with her in the given address on the card she gave you. I felt stu.." Emily stood up and decides not to finish as it will be obvious to him that she likes him while he only regards her as a close friend or a kind stranger that saved his life.

After Jim hears what she just said he got emotional and his eyes were red. He didn't know what to do nor what to say, because every sentence she said was like knives stabbing his heart. It showed how much she cares for him.He wished he could tell her that he loved her but every time he tries to say it nothing comes out. Jim stood up and finds himself saying...

" I went to meet up with a client that needed he urgently." hearing what he said he realized it's not making sense.

Emily was about to leave the living room when a pair of hands grabbed her waist. He turned her around and said..." please don't get mad at me. My phone went off and..." Jim didn't know what to say anymore, he found himself out of words. He decided to let her go.

When Emily was free she told him that his food was in the microwave and left. After Emily left Jim went to his room and put his phone on the charger and went to take a shower. Everything Emily said kept repeating in his mind. After showering he went straight to his phone and called Lou.

*** in country L, City ER***

Lou was busy working on something on his computer when his phone ringed. He answered the call with his lazy voice." Hello?"

"Hey Lou it's me, Jim " his voice was light serious.

When Lou hears the familiar voice he immediately dropped his phone shocked and it hit the ground. On the other side Jim heard a loud bang coming from the other end leaving him confused by what just happened.

" Hey Lou bro, are you there?"

Lou came into his senses and picked up the phone quickly and put it on his ear. " Jim is that really you? " his tone was uncertain and shocked.

" Yes it's me Jimmy the jammy." when he said the name he used to call him he felt creepy.

" OMG! you are alive? I thought you're dead bro." his voice was cheerful and laughed out heartily.

" Yeah I know. But can you do me a favor ? " his voice was serious.

" yeah sure what's up man?"

" Please don't tell anyone that I called okay? "

" Why? you're father will be happy to see you." Lou didn't understand why did he want him to keep this a secret.

" Long story but for now I need you to investigate everything that happened on the night of my accident..." Jim didn't finish when Lou asked him.

" You were in an accident? "

Jim had forgotten that no one knows about the accident and quickly said..." that's not important right now. I want you to investigate everything for me while I was gone and now, especially my stepmom and brother."

" Bro you forgot that I'm a hacker not a detective?" Lou didn't know how could he investigate such matter when he is only a hacker.

" Well you're figure that out right now I need to to help me on this one. And I almost forgot, please help me with cash I'm going to pay you back soon when I get back on my feet again. I'll send you my bank account now.And make sure to keep me updated." when he finished talking he went to his closet and looked for his pyjamas while holding the phone in his ear .

" Jim, okay fine I'll send you money but the investigation part is not my job." Lou didn't know what to think right now.

" Well can you at least try finding someone else?" Jim begged.

" mhm I don't know, Jim. I'll try."

" Please you have to help me with this one." Jim sounded like he really does need help. So Lou decided to get in contact with some of his friends.

" Alright." was what Lou said.

Jim said goodnight and put down his phone. He sat at the edge of the bed massaging his temples. He really wish that this is just a dream he could wake up from.
