Three days I leave my family for alpha camp, my mum still hasn’t had the baby it sucks keeping it a secret nobody outside our pack is aware and they are forbidden to tell a soul. A few witches have put a protection spell on my mum while she’s carrying the pup. I can’t wait to be a big brother to hold and protect the pup I was hoping my mum would have had it by now but I can’t see that happening.

But once the pup is born I will be given leave to come visit, I wish I could stay I have voiced this to my dad but he keeps reminding me that it’s important that I go do this training and I will become stronger for my pack. I just agree with him and leave it there as there’s no point in arguing with him.

My mum has been put on bed rest so I decide to go see her and spend as much off my free time with her before I leave I will miss her we spend alot off time together when my dad is away on pack business and leaves his beta in charge. My thoughts are interrupted by my door being opened and slammed shut only to reveal my best friend Logan he will also be my beta when I take over.

“Dude you ready for your training?” He asks sitting on my bed. “Yes” I simply reply

“I can’t believe your leaving at a time like this” her replies “I have no choice man my dad says it’s for the pack” I glance around the room making sure I haven’t forgot anything.

“You packed everything you need?” He asks “I think so if I’ve forgot anything I can grab it when I come to visit” I reply he nods “I dunno man I have a bad feeling like something bad is going to happen once you’ve gone” “I’m glad I’m not the only one I’ve tried talking to my dad but he’s stubborn so I’m leaving in a week” he stands from the bed and walks to the door opens it and walks out shutting it behind him.

I lay down on my bed and stare at the ceiling, I’m glad I’m not the only one that has this bad feeling but I can’t control the plans my dad has for me. I close my eyes as they begin to feel heavy as the darkness takes me.

I’m woken by banging on my door I groan, I look towards my clock it’s a little past seven I get up walking towards the door. I swing it open and Logan is standing at my door not paying attention. “This better be good” I tell him.

“It is your dad has called you for breakfast you have ten minutes” he says I nod then he turns and makes his way down the hall. I close the door and take a quick shower once I’m dressed I make my way down for breakfast. I walk into the kitchen my dad, Jared and Logan are all sitting to the table while our cook is preparing breakfast.

“Good morning everyone” I greet as take a seat next to my dad. “Good morning son” my father greets. “How was your sleep little alpha?” Jared asks, I hate the nickname bug no matter how many times I ask him to stop he doesn’t. “Good, where’s auntie is she not joining us?” I ask or though since my mum had been put on bed rest she tends to have her meals with my mum. “She’s with your mother” Jared answers. Mary the cook places the food on the table and we wait for my father to fill his plate first.

I fill my plate and start eating my dad clears is throat getting everyone’s attention. “Thank you Mary but you may leave I’ll call for you once we’ve finished” he says Mary nods her head and leaves. “Your leaving for your training later today” my father says me and Logan both look at each other before I look back at my dad. “But I’m due to leave for another three days dad” he signs “they have called they are starting two days early I have no control over this and you will leave this afternoon are you packed?” He asks. “Yes sir” I say he nods and goes back to eating his food.

“What do you plan on doing today?” Jared asks, he’s my dads beta and also he’s like an uncle to me. “I’m going to see mum then go for a run with Logan if he’s up for it?” Logan looks up and smirks. “Stay in the boundaries please and be back by four you leave at five” my dad says getting from his chair and exiting the room. “I know what you boys get up to on these runs so please be careful” Jared says also leaving the room before either off us can reply.

I stand taking my plate over to the sink, I turn to Logan who’s still filling his face. “I’m going to see mum meet me in an hour at the back” he nods as I walk out the room making my way up to the my mums room on the top floor.

I stand at the door I can hear hush voices coming from the other side “why has he got to go so soon?” My mum asks “they’ve moved the date up honey I can do nothing” my dad replies “I can have the pup any day and our son won’t be here” my mum says I open the door and my mothers looks up she has tears in her eyes my dad sitting beside her on the bed holding her hand.

“Son come” my dad waves me over to the bed I take a seat on the other side off my mum she pulls me into a hug I wrap my arms around her while she cries. “It’s going to be ok mum I’ll come back when you’ve had the pup” I try to console her but my efforts are worthless she just cries harder.

“Just be safe ok?” She says between breaths I hug her tighter it’s going to be hard leaving her behind her and the pack. “I will” I reply. We sit together I decide not to go on the run but to spend the remaining time with my mum. We have dinner together and talk until it’s time, I bid my mum goodbye and head downstairs my dad following behind.

When we reach the door Jared and Logan are waiting Jared walks up to me and pulls me into a hug “take care off yourself and stay out off trouble” he says “I will” he pats my shoulder and picks up my bags and walks out the door with my dad following.

“You know it’s going to be lonely around here” Logan says walking up to me. “Just promise me one thing” I ask “sure what is it” he says “protect my mum, spend time with her while I’m gone she’ll get lonely when my dads doing pack business” he nods and holds his hand out for me to shake. “Man we can hug” I say and he pulls me in for a hug. “Can I tell you something and don’t go all weird on me” he says I nod and he takes a deep breath “I like boys your not freaked out are you” be asks “no man I already new but thanks for telling me” I reply. “Thanks man” he says.

I hug Logan again and walk out the door my dad and jared are stood by the car waiting. My dad approaches me. “Son I’m proud off you no matter what happens in the future I will always be proud off you” he says then pulls me into a hug it’s not a regular good by hug it’s like he’s putting his all into this one hug. “Thanks dad tell me mum I love her and I love you it’ll only be for a few weeks then I’ll be back for a visit” I say my dad smiles and nods he walks me towards the car and opens the door I get into the car with two off the pack warriors.

My dad waves good bye as the car starts to head down the road from the pack house most off the pack members are on their front yards waving me off. The warriors at the borders nod as me leave pack land and the last thing I hear through the link from my dad is “I love you son be safe” I don’t even get the chance to say it back before I’m too far away I look out the window and watch the trees pass by until i reach my destination.
