"Mr Charles ", Alex said, his voice low and commanding. "Sir", Mr. Charles replied, his voice laced deference. the old man is still in the hospital, his being asking of you and threatened that he refuse to take any further treatment till he sees you. Alex eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched into frustration. the old man his father, was a force to be reckoned with even from his hospital bed. 'What the situation?" Alex asked his voice cold and detached. the doctor said his not looking good" Mr. Charles replied his eyes still casted downward. he's holding on but......... Alex nodded, his left eye never leaving the mirror. "I'll go see him". Mr. Charles nodded, a look of relief washing over his face. " I'll arrange for the car sir". As mr.charles was leaving, Alex called him back. "and mr. Charles". "Sir"? he said as he turns immediately and bow his head, facing the floor. you have to take care of everything, I don't want any...... complications. Alex said as his gaze was still fixed in the mirror, dressing his tie. Mr Charles nodded, his eyes flickering in understanding. "of course sir, I will make sure of that". Alex turned from the mirror, his eyes fixed on the door, his mind already racing with possibilities. the game was on and was ready to play. meanwhile, julliana's phone rang, shrilling in her ear as she rushed to answer it. it was her mother, her voice panicked as she tried to talk to her daughter. "hello, mom speak to me". it.....it your grandma, she being hospitalized. julliana's heart sank as she picked her bag and rush out of the office immediately. she quickly hailed a taxi. her mind couldn't help but worry so much. The scene unfolded like a slow-motion sequence in a movie. Alex, surrounded by his entourage, stepped out of the car and onto the hospital driveway. The air was thick with tension as his men dispersed, forming a protective cordon around him. As they made their way to the elevator, the hospital staff and patients alike couldn't help but stare. Whispers spread like wildfire: "Someone important is here..." "Must be a big shot..." The atmosphere was electric, and everyone was on edge. Meanwhile, Jessica was frantic with worry.Since She had just received news about her grandmother's deteriorating condition and was rushing to the hospital. She dashed into the elevator, her eyes fixed on the closing doors. She didn't notice the sea of black suits surrounding her, her mind was only consumed by thoughts of her grandmother. As she turned around, she collided with a wall of black clothed men. One of Alex's bodyguards, a towering giant of a man, instinctively reached out to push her out of the elevator. But Alex's voice, low and commanding, stopped him in his tracks. "Let her be," Alex said, his eyes flicking to Jessica. For a brief moment, their gazes met for five seconds, and Jessica felt a jolt of electricity. But she didn't register the face, her mind was too preoccupied with her grandmother's condition. The elevator doors closed, and the ascent began. The tension in the air was palpable, but Jessica remained oblivious to the commotion she had stumbled into. She was lost in her own world, praying for her grandmother's recovery. As the doors opened on the ICU floor, Julliana was the first to dash out, her eyes fixed on the nurse's station. Alex watched her go, a hint of curiosity in his eyes. Who was this woman, and why didn't she panic at all upon seeing people dressed in black suit like us. julliana went straight to the receptionist office and after some moment, she was directed to the room where her mother and grandma was. "Grandma are you alright". julliana raised her voice immediately she opened the door. ohhh dear you didn't have to rush here like this. "I have told you several times not to worry about me, I'm fine." Mrs Eucharia said as she held julliana's hand since she was sitting beside her, on the bed. julliana's mother, Mrs Emilia who was in the doctor's office came in and on seeing her daughter, she wore a smile on her face." my dear Jullie, you came". " yeah mom, so what did the doctor said". julliana asked as she walked towards her mother. he says she's just stressed out, nothing more. julliana heeved a sigh of relief upon hearing that. Alex on the other hand entered inside the hospital room. the hospital room was dimly lit, the only sound made was the beeping of machines and the soft hum of the ventilator. Mr. Kelvin, Alex's father, lay in the bed, his eyes closed, his chest rising and falling with each labored breath. Alex stood at the foot of the bed, his eyes fixed on his father's face. Mr. Kelvin's eyes flickered open, and a faint smile spread across his face. "Alex..." he whispered, his voice barely audible. Alex moved closer, his eyes locked on his father's. "Father," he said, his voice low and respectful. Mr. Kelvin's eyes searched for Alex's face, his gaze lingering on the scars and lines that told the story of a life lived hard and fast. "You've come," he said, his voice a little stronger now. Alex nodded, his jaw clenched. "I came as soon as I heard." Mr. Kelvin's eyes clouded, and he coughed, a dry, hacking sound. Alex's men moved forward, but he waved them back. "Leave us," he said, his voice low and commanding. The room emptied, leaving Alex and Mr. Kelvin alone. Mr. Kelvin reached out a trembling hand, and Alex took it, his grip firm. "I'm proud of you, Alex," Mr. Kelvin whispered. "You've done well." Alex's eyes flashed with emotion, but he said nothing. He knew his father was trying to make peace, to leave him with something to hold onto. Just then, a nurse walked in, checking Mr. Kelvin's vitals. She smiled at Alex, "The doctor will be in soon, sir." Alex nodded, his eyes never leaving his father's face. Mr. Kelvin smiled, his eyes twinkling, "I'll be fine, Alex. Don't worry." after the doctor came in and examined mr Kelvin thoroughly, he assured him that his father was fine. he just need some rest. his okay" the doctor said as he turns and leaves. after Alex stayed for three hours, he decided to leave since he had some other things to attend to I'll call mr Charles to have someone take care of your needs. "I'll be heading to the office now, see you dad." he said to mr Kelvin who was slowly eating munching his food while nodding, as he looked at his son with a smile and then, he left.
