Chapter seven. Diner at night

1600 Words
julliana took Alex to her home that evening. Julianna's house was a charming little place, filled with warmth and personality. As Alex stepped inside, he was immediately struck by the cozy atmosphere. The living room was small, with plush cushions and a vibrant Ankara print rug that added a pop of color to the space. The walls were adorned with family photos and artwork, giving the place a sense of warmth and love. The dinner table was set with a beautiful lace tablecloth, and the aroma of Jollof rice and grilled chicken wafted from the kitchen, making Alex's stomach twinge with hunger. Julianna had clearly put a lot of effort into the meal, and Alex was touched by her kindness. As they sat down to eat, the conversation flowed easily, and Alex found himself feeling more and more at ease. But just as they finished dinner, the skies opened up, and a heavy downpour started, pounding against the roof of the house. Julianna looked up at the ceiling, a look of concern on her face. "I'm so sorry, Alex, but it looks like you're stuck here for the night. The rain is supposed to get worse before it gets better." Alex felt a flutter in his chest, realizing he was going to have to spend the night in Julianna's house, alone with her, in a suddenly very intimate setting. Awkward didn't even begin to cover it. "Uh, yeah, no problem," he said, trying to sound casual. "I can, uh, sleep on the couch or something." Julianna smiled, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Don't be silly, Alex. You can have the guest room. It's not like we don't have space." As they settled in for the night, the tension between them was palpable, the only sound the rain pounding against the roof and the creaking of the old house. Alex couldn't help but feel like he was walking on eggshells, trying to navigate this sudden, intense closeness with Julianna. As they said their goodnights, Alex couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to get a lot more complicated. The night wore on, with the rain pounding against the roof like a relentless drumbeat. Alex lay in the guest room, trying to get comfortable on the soft bed, but his mind kept wandering back to Julianna, sleeping just a few feet away. He couldn't believe how awkward he felt, like a teenager . He was a Mafia boss, for crying out loud! He'd faced down danger and made tough decisions, but this... this was different. As he tossed and turned, he heard a faint rustling sound from the living room. He got out of bed and padded softly to the door, listening carefully. The sound was coming from Julianna's room, a soft whimpering noise. Alex's heart skipped a beat. Was she okay? He knocked softly on her door, calling out, "Julianna? You alright?" There was a pause, and then a muffled voice said, "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just a bad dream." Alex's instincts kicked in, and he pushed open the door, stepping inside. Julianna was sitting up in bed, her eyes wide with fear, her hair tangled and messy. The soft glow of the moonlight streaming through the window highlighted her trembling lips. Without thinking, Alex sat down beside her, taking her hand in his. "Hey, it's okay," he said softly. "I'm here. You're safe." Julianna looked up at him, her eyes searching his face, and for a moment, they just looked at each other. The tension between them was something else, like a living thing. The moonlight streaming through the window cast a silver glow on her face, highlighting the fear and vulnerability in her eyes. "you are going to be fine, okay!!!," Alex said softly trying to assure her. his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm here. You're always safe with me." Julianna's eyes searched his face, and for a moment, they just looked at each other. The air was charged with an electric tension, and Alex could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He leaned in, his face inches from Julianna's, and for a moment, he forgot about everything else. He forgot about the Mafia, about Logan, about the danger that lurked in the shadows. All he saw was Julianna, her beautiful face, her bright eyes, her trembling lips. Their lips were almost touching, and Alex could feel the warmth of her breath on his skin. He was about to close the gap, to give in to the temptation, when he suddenly pulled back, his eyes snapping back into focus. "Sorry," he muttered, his voice rough with tension. "I shouldn't have..." Julianna's eyes dropped, and she nodded, her face flushing with embarrassment. "It's okay," she whispered. "I think I understand." The moment was broken, and Alex stood up, his movements stiff. "Get some rest," he said, his voice firm. "We'll talk in the morning." As he turned to leave, Julianna's voice stopped him. "Alex?" "Yeah?" he said, his hand on the door handle. "Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "For being here." Alex's heart skipped a beat, and he nodded, his eyes locking onto hers for a moment before he turned and left the room. As he lay in bed, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was playing with fire, that he was getting too close to Julianna, that he was going to get burned. But he couldn't help himself. He was drawn to her, like a moth to a flame. And he knew that sooner or later, he was going to get caught. The night wore on, with Alex's mind racing with thoughts of Julianna. He couldn't believe he had almost kissed her, couldn't believe he had lost control like that. What was wrong with him? He was a Mafia boss, for crying out loud! He don't lose control, people lost control around him. But there was something about Julianna, something that made him feel like he was home, like he was exactly where he was meant to be. It was a feeling he couldn't shake, no matter how hard he tried. As the first light of dawn crept into the sky, Alex finally drifted off to sleep, his dreams filled with images of Julianna, of her smile, her laugh, her eyes. When he woke up, the sun was high in the sky, and Julianna was standing in the doorway, a tray in her hands. "Good morning," she said, her voice soft. "I brought you some breakfast." Alex sat up, rubbing his eyes, trying to clear the sleep from his head. "Thanks," he said, taking the tray from her. As they ate, the tension between them was still on, the unspoken words hanging in the air. Alex knew he had to say something, had to acknowledge what had happened, but he didn't know what to say. Julianna, on the other hand, seemed perfectly calm, perfectly at ease. "So, what's the plan?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Alex's eyes met hers, and for a moment, he was lost. What was the plan? He didn't know, didn't care. All he knew was that he didn't want this moment to end. "I don't know," he said, his voice low. "I think we should play it by ear." Julianna nodded, her eyes never leaving his. "okay, I'm going to step out, a bit to buy some new clothes and shoes for you to wear to work today". but I can always wear, what I wored last night" he said slowly. " that's not a good idea. so you need to like a take shower or something. am going to be right back, the mall is just down there. Okay! he said with a deep cute voice as he smiles at her. julliana who is already outside couldn't help but Chuckle. " why does he try so hard to act cute around me. ohh my Goodness, his so unbelievable." she said as she began heading to the direction of where the mall is. few minutes later, julliana came home with a new cloth and pair of shoes. as she walked inside the house, straight to the guest room, behold she saw Alex as he came out from the bathroom room with a dryer, drying his hair. no shirt putted on, just a towel wrapped round his waist. julliana who stood still watching and fighting the temptations inside her that didn't know what to do any longer. uhmm, this....., this is the....the clothes so am gonna prepare while we head straight to work, it getting pretty late. as Alex went closer to her to collect the clothes on her, he noticed how she had being staring at him while her chick already gone red. he then made sure his face and gaze went closer to jullianas'. " hey Jullie" he said in a romantic way as he smiled so cutely causing julliana not to struggle to breathe. I mean what is julliana thinking all this while. "his hot, cute, his jaw line, his body and chest, ohh my God, this is temptation". julliana said to her self. " are you still thinking and daydreaming about me", Alex whispered towards julliana's ears, so softly, causing her to struggle with words. what......no, I mean.........no. anyway I'm....
