CHAPTER 21: THE HUNT BEGINS
The lights flooded the building.
Voices echoed.
Footsteps rushed in from every direction.
But neither Linh nor Nguyen Khang moved.
Because they both knew something was wrong.
“This is too fast,” Khang said quietly.
Linh’s eyes sharpened.
“Yes.”
The response came immediately.
“Too clean.”
They looked at each other.
Same thought.
Same realization.
“This isn’t the police,” Khang said.
Almost at the same time, Linh stepped back.
“Leave. Now.”
The command was sharp.
Urgent.
Khang didn’t argue.
For once.
Because he saw it too.
The formation.
The silence.
Too controlled.
Too precise.
Not law enforcement.
Before they could move, the lights flickered.
