CHAPTER 2: THE RETURN

477 Words
The car moved smoothly through the rain. Linh leaned back, her eyes closed. For three years, she had lived like a shadow. Now, it was over. “Miss, we will arrive soon,” the driver said. Linh opened her eyes. “Is everything ready?” “Yes. The master is waiting for you.” Waiting. That word felt unfamiliar. The car stopped in front of a grand mansion. The gates opened slowly. Lights stretched along the driveway. Servants stood in two lines, heads lowered. The moment Linh stepped out— A man hurried forward. “Miss Linh!” He bowed deeply. “It has been too long.” Linh looked at him. “Uncle Tran.” “You’ve suffered,” he said quietly. Linh shook her head. “It’s over.” Inside the mansion, the atmosphere was tense. An old man sat at the center. The moment he saw her, he stood up. “Come here.” Linh walked forward. “Grandfather.” He looked at her carefully. Then his expression darkened. “They treated you like this?” Linh remained silent. That was already an answer. The old man slammed his hand on the table. “From today on, no one is allowed to bully you again.” His voice was cold and absolute. “Prepare everything.” He looked at the others. “It’s time to announce her identity.” Uncle Tran nodded. “Yes, Master.” Linh frowned slightly. “There’s no need yet.” The old man looked at her. “Why?” A faint smile appeared on her lips. “Because I want to play first.” At the same time— Khang sat in his office. He was working, but his mind wasn’t focused. That expression Linh had before leaving… It didn’t feel right. “President Nguyen.” His assistant stepped in. “Miss Lan is here.” “Let her in.” A beautiful woman walked in. “Khang, you’re still working?” She smiled and held his arm. “Now we can finally be together.” Khang didn’t pull away. But something felt… off. Empty. “Sir, there is something you should see.” The assistant placed a tablet on the table. A photo appeared on the screen. A luxury car. Rare. Expensive. And beside it— Linh. Standing in the rain. Cold. Distant. Completely different. Khang narrowed his eyes. “That car… whose is it?” The assistant hesitated. “It belongs to the most powerful family in the country.” A pause. “The Tran family.” Silence filled the room. “That’s impossible.” Khang’s voice turned cold. But deep inside— Something began to crack. At the mansion— Linh stood by the window. City lights reflected in her eyes. “Nguyen Khang…” Her voice was soft. “This is only the beginning.”
