Khang did not sleep that night. The file lay open on his desk. Every page pointed to the same truth. Linh was not who he thought she was. He leaned back, staring at the ceiling. For three years, she had stayed by his side. Quiet. Patient. Invisible. And he had never questioned it. Not once. “President Nguyen.” The assistant’s voice broke the silence. “We found more information.” Khang looked up. “Speak.” “The Tran family has officially returned to the market.” “They are targeting Nguyen Group.” Khang’s expression darkened. Of course they were. Or rather, she was. “Arrange a meeting,” he said. “With Linh.” At the mansion, Linh received the message. She glanced at the screen, then put it aside. “Miss,” Uncle Tran said, “will you meet him?” Linh smiled faintly. “Not yet.” She stood up. “Let him wait.” Meanwhile, Lan stood in front of a mirror. Her reflection looked perfect. But her eyes were not calm. She picked up her phone. “Find out everything about Linh.” “I want the truth.” Later that night, Khang stood alone in his office. The city lights flickered outside. For the first time, he felt something unfamiliar. Regret.
