“We must find a way to kill her.” Elder Erin says and abruptly rises from his seat.
“She may be out of our sight now but she can still cause chaos within the next few months and that’s if we are lucky.”
“I agree! “ Another elder backs up and my fist only tightens.
“The penalty for her is death!”
“How do you know the Black Wolves don't want to use her to gain the upper hand. That Alpha would do anything to have his revenge.”
“Enough!” I bellow, breaking every side talk at once. “Whatever Alpha Leo chooses to do with her now is none of our concern. She’s out of our pack and that's all the good news we need. “
My voice comes out expressionless but I feel the exact opposite. My fist clenches under the grand hall table to the point I feel it growing numb. The idea of Alpha Leo having what belongs to me was infuriating.
I never really had any plans to kill Fiona, I tried to stall as much as I could to quiet down the elders and pack. But if I'd refused to seal the truce then everyone would have hinted that I still wanted to keep her.
“But Alpha, even if that's the case she's still very dangerous. You remember what happened the last time.”
The Vartex wolf is not any ordinary wolf, it is wild and destructive and for generations those who they dwell in have caused nothing but utter chaos. Especially to Fox tribe.
I stand from the head of the table.
“This matter is to be closed forever. The decision has been finalized and as Alpha of this pack I command it remains that way, closed and buried in the past. “
The entire room goes quiet with grey hairs darting their eyes at each other. I turn, walking out of the hall with my Lucian following right behind.
All they could do was murmur behind my back, they knew better than to go against me, every single one who did so paid the price with their life and as for the dogs who'd decided to take law into their hands and hurt Fiona.
I had plans prepared specifically for them.
I stop once we are outside, letting the cool evening breath calm me down.
“Where are they?” I ask Lucian, my beta.
“The Kolasis, Alpha.”
I smile, the Kolasis is the ancient torment room created by our ancestors for discipline.
The cold air does little to tame the storm brewing within me and Lucian trails silently behind.
An ancient hall carved deep into the earth, built by our ancestors as a place of retribution. The walls whisper tales of agony and repentance, soaked with the despair of those who dared to defy the Alpha’s law. It was a room where even the strongest wolves were reduced to trembling pups.
The heavy iron doors creak open as I approach, the sound echoing ominously through the stone corridor. Inside the two men kneel, shackled and bruised.
Leo claw mark had made a deep and visible cut on their skin.
They don’t lift their heads as I approach but I can smell the fear radiating off them like a rancid stench as their body trembles on the ground.
“Alpha,” Lucian begins tentatively, but I raise a hand, silencing him.
I take measured steps deeper into the room.
“You had one simple order, take the girl back into her chambers and yet you did otherwise.”
“A-alpha, please—” one begins, with a trembling voice.
“Silence,” I snap.
‘Let me handle this, you didn't listen to me then and now see what happened’ Vick’s anger is primal and feral and it takes every ounce of control to keep him at bay.
“You disobeyed me,” I continue, circling them like a predator stalking its prey. “I gave clear orders that Fiona was to be untouched, yet you—” I slam a fist into the stone wall.
‘I had everything under control and yet they screwed it.’
The plan was to keep Fiona for myself and eventually when Leo returned the next morning he wouldn't have seen her. I had no intention of signing a stupid contract, not until these bastards meddled.
The two men flinch.
A sinister smile curls up my lips. “You thought you could take matters into your own hands. How amusing.”
“Alpha, we only—”
“You hurt her!” I roar, my voice echoing with the fury of my wolf. The chains binding the men rattle as they cower. “You used Vartexbane on her. Do you have any idea what that could have done to her if Alpha Leo hadn't come in time?”
My veins pop and I can feel my insides burning. I wasn't there to protect her and he had saved her instead. It didn’t hurt my pride but I felt useless.
“She’s dangerous!” the other man protests, desperation lacing his tone. “The Vartex wolf—”
“Is my responsibility!” I cut him off, my voice like thunder. “She is my Luna. My mate. And you dared to lay a hand on her.”
The other man who had been silent looks up. “You rejected her, she's cursed.” He reminds me and my blood runs cold.
He wasn't lying. I did reject her but that didn't mean I didn't stop feeling anything or didn't mean my wolf rejected her as well.
‘You rejected my mate! Let me kill them.’ Vicks bellows, his rage simmering.
I step closer, my shadow looming over them. “Do you know what happens to those who defy their Alpha?”
They don’t answer, but their silence speaks volumes.
I turn to Lucian. “Unshackle them.”
He hesitates but obeys, releasing the men from their chains. The both look at each other in disbelief, unaware of what was to come but the fear glittering in their eyes.
“Stand!” I command.
They both scramble to their feet, silent pleas escaping their lips.
“Run,”
Vicks' pulse accelerates knowing it's finally his moment to shine. He’d been quiet for too long now.
The two hesitate, their confusions mingling with their fear.
“RUN!”
This time they bolt out the door, and in the next second Vicks surges forward, taking control and rushing at them.
They were far too weak to run a distance and this only gives us more advantage.
Everything goes red and I launch at them, my claws raking through their wounded flesh. The other tries to escape while I'm busy with the first but in the next instant, I move swiftly, my teeth sink into this arm, detaching it in an uproar attack and spitting the remains at the stone wall across the room.
Torn flesh, bones and the scent of blood fill the room. Their screams echo in the Kolasis, a haunting symphony of pain and regret.
My wolf howls in satisfaction, but I force him back, regaining control just as the men collapse, battered and broken.
I stand over them, my breathing heavy, blood dripping from my claws.
“Let this be a lesson, you do not defy or touch what belongs to me.” I say to the already dead wolves.
Turning to Lucian, I give a curt nod. “Clean this up.”
As I leave the Kolasis, the anger in my chest refuses to fade. I had to forget about her, she now belonged to the Black Wolves, but even though I said it, my wolf wasn't a big fan of the idea.
