Her voice echoed in my head until it dwarfed my ability to think for straight five minutes. The harshness of her note, and the way she looks at me like some garbage in her backyard makes my chest hurt.
“You don't belong here. You should be in school at least,” she sneered.
All doom and gloom, she took a thorough look at me and shook her head, downright condescending. “ To think that someone like you will pretend to love my grandson is hilarious.”
“ You modern ladies have a way of digging into unmerited soil.”
